Fix AirPods Battery Draining Too Fast Problem, Here’s How

The AirPods are one of Apple’s best products yet, and that is despite many people feeling they were nothing more than a gimmick when they were first announced. We’re now into the second generation of AirPods and once again, we’re seeing them selling quicker than Apple can make them. But that doesn’t mean they don’t have their issues, and battery life can be one of them.

Normally, AirPods batteries last more than long enough to get your through a listening session or conference call, but if you’re finding that they can barely get through an album, there are a few things you can try doing to fix things.

The first of those is to fully charge and then fully drain your AirPods batteries to see if a fully power cycle is enough to kick them into gear. If not, fear not. There are more options at hand.

Next up, try resetting your AirPods by opening the case with them inside and pressing and holding the pairing button on the back of the case. Do that for ten seconds, and the whole shebang will be reset.

If that still doesn’t work, another option is to head into the Bluetooth settings of your iPhone or iPad and then forget the AirPods before re-pairing them. It’s worth a shot, and who knows – you might be in luck.

Failing that, the chances are you’re going to need to take your AirPods in to Apple for repair or replacement. If they don’t have Apple Care, and are outside of warranty, you might need to resort to picking up a new pair altogether. That’s not a cheap option no matter how you look at it, but think of it as an opportunity to get a nice shiny new pair of AirPods instead of the ones that have lived in yours ears constantly for the lat two years!
