You can now download macOS 26 Tahoe beta 1 for your Mac right now. Here are the details on this.
After all the rumors and expectations, Apple has now officially announced the macOS 26 software update for its laptop and desktop computers. The new update won’t be released until this fall, but developers can install an initial beta right now.
The macOS 26 beta was announced at WWDC on June 9 and brings with it the usual array of new features and improvements across the board, but Apple knows that it needs a few months to get it ready for the big public release. With that in mind, a developer beta and later, a public beta, offer the company a chance to get more widespread feedback on what is working and, importantly, what isn’t.
Registered developers can now download the macOS 26 beta by heading to developer.apple.com and following the steps outlined there. Once you’re up and running, you can then install the future macOS 16 betas following the usual update process using the System Settings app.
Apple has also made iOS 26, iPadOS 26, tvOS 26, visionOS 26, and watchOS 26 available for download in their own developer beta forms, too.
Remember that this beta should only be installed on Macs that are used for software development, and that bugs and issues should be expected until the final release is ready for the public later this year.
