Valve's Steam Machine initiative is an interesting one, even if we can't help but wonder about its longevity. Regardless, anything that shakes up the PC gaming industry is fine by us, and Steam certainly did that. Can the Steam Machines do the same? We'll have to wait and see.
Call of Duty has come under scrutiny in recent years, with critics quick to point out that each new version is merely a rehash of the previous, and that Infinity Ward / Activision is simply milking what has certainly become something of a cash cow, and the $1 billion made in 24-hours is there to prove it. But now, as YouTube user satantribal has pointed out, there may be a great deal of truth in this claim, since it looks as though the same cut-scene from Modern Warfare 2 has been reused with the all-new Call of Duty: Ghosts. A side-by-side video clip from both titles has been thrown together by the YouTuber that you can check out below, although it'd be a little cruel on some if we didn't throw in a customary spoiler alert.
We're now at the eve of what will more than likely be the second-biggest gaming release of this calendar year, and with Call of Duty: Ghosts almost at retail, Activision has released a live-action trailer featuring the lovely Megan Fox. The clip, which runs for almost two minutes, is entitled "Epic Night Out," and you can check it out right after the break!
We may yet to have heard anything official from Rockstar Games, the creator of the record-smashing Grand Theft Auto 5, but Intel has chimed into GTA 5 for PC release by suggesting that a version for Windows computers will indeed be happening at some point in the near future. We already heard NVIDIA's director of investor relations slip that the popular title would be hitting the market at some point later on this fall, and although it's hard to take anything as gospel until we hear it from the horse's mouth, it's certainly encouraging for the many millions waiting for that PC release.
Playing games on a PlayStation 3 or PC is great fun using a game controller like the Dual Shock 3 from Sony, but inputting data like usernames, passwords or messages to friends using the controller and an on-screen keyboard is no fun at all. Yes there are chatpads and keyboards available with an aim of making getting words onto the screen less of a chore, but that's further expense that in this day and age we can all do without. But, as is always the case, there's another way to achieve the same goal without spending a penny.
Amid several rather significant announcements this week, Valve has just taken the wraps off an intriguing new game controller, which, in a break from market trends, will not feature any joysticks whatsoever. The strange looking peripheral includes in-built trackpads in the kinds of positions you'd normally expect to see sticky-outy bits, and with the buttons also having been placed in peculiar areas, this is certainly no ordinary, run-of-the-mill controller.
Parallels has built its name up from a series of software allowing consumers to run Microsoft's Windows on a Mac. There are, of course, numerous apps offering a similar service, but with ease of use and generally smooth functionality, Parallels Desktop has become the go-to choice for many looking to enjoy the best of both worlds. Now, the company has come through with Parallels Access, an app for iPad that allows convenient remote control access to both Windows and OS X desktops and notebooks.
Rockstar Games has been steadfast in its releasing of screenshots and teaser trailers for its upcoming Grand Theft Auto 5, and with just a couple of weeks left until the eagerly awaited retail date, the developer-publisher has come through with another bundle of snaps demonstrating some of the sumptuous scenery. Rockstar has already familiarized us with virtually every facet of the game including the characters, missions, weapons, vehicles, and even the GTA 5 online gameplay trailer, but these screenshots simply focus on the two main aspects of every GTA title: Crime and Leisure.
When it comes to popular gaming franchises, Call of Duty always seems to leave competitors in its wake. We're coming up to that point of the year again when Activision drops its latest blockbuster, and this time around, CoD fans are gearing themselves up for the release of Call of Duty: Ghosts. On a day that has seen much by way of game-related announcements, Activision and Infinity Ward have collectively announced that the special, Prestige Edition of the upcoming title will include an added extra in the form of a 1080p action camera. Grand Theft Auto 5 is easily one of the most anticipated titles to be releasing this year, and in the wake of NVIDIA's revelation that the title would also be arriving for PC by the end of the year, Rockstar Games has just dropped the official online gameplay trailer. Hitherto, we've seen cinematics, snippets, and a deluge of screenshots illustrating just how advanced GTA 5 will be both graphically and in playing terms, but nothing beats a feature-length gameplay trailer.
