There's been a significant amount of chit-chat regarding third-party mail apps on the iOS App Store. The original pretender to the throne was the Sparrow app that began life on OS X before being migrated across to iOS and then ultimately snapped up by Google who promptly stopped development of the project. We've since had the Mailbox app that managed to generate an interest from millions of users, and more recently, we've seen the Mail Pilot offering that may cost a lot but also brings a new way of looking at email in a minimalist and clean interface. I've attempted to use all of the above mentioned apps as my primary email clients on the iPhone, but always end up falling back on Apple's native offering on iOS 6.
We love a good concept idea here at Redmond Pie, and with all this incessant talk of an "iPhone 5S" hitting the scene at some point in the near future, the designers have been out in force putting forth their own takes on what kind of form factor the device may eventually employ. But while many are getting understandably carried away with the supposedly imminent seventh-gen handset, the guys over at Aatma Studio have been busy creating an iPhone concept of a different kind.

There is no doubt about the fact that battery is one of the most important aspects of any mobile device. A device can be the most beautiful, elegant creation in the world and contain some of the most advanced features that we have seen in the mobile game, but if the battery doesn't last five minutes then the whole design process has been in vein. Apple's iOS devices do a fairly good job of keeping the user informed of the current battery level through a tidy little icon and optional percentage indication, but for those jailbroken users who want to make a little aesthetic tweak then the Live Battery Indicator package could be the solution.
At this years’ Hack in the Box conference in Amsterdam, Evad3rs not only presented the Evasi0n jailbreak, but also took time out to answer some of the common questions in a separate exclusive Q&A session with the press. One of the most incessantly annoying features of iOS's functionality is the fact that whenever you open up an App Store link in your browser, in the Notes app, or within any other app for that matter, it automatically jumps away from what you're doing, and takes you straight to the page of the game or app in App Store app. This rather irritating trait is also manifested on OS X, with iTunes popping up by default when you're just looking to check out an app's reputation in your browser. Luckily, jailbreaks mean the pet peeves of most users can be nullified, and with a nifty little tweak by the name of QuickStore, clicked App Store links will appear in a versatile pop-up window as opposed to dragging you away from your app-in-hand.
It has been just under two weeks since Mark Zuckerberg invited various members of the press to Facebook's Menlo Park headquarters to discuss the new Facebook Home for Android, and although its subsequent release was restricted to only a handful of devices, the integration of the Chat Heads feature into Facebook Messenger for Android offered the wider audience a taste of the new social plugin. Now, it has been revealed that Chat Heads will also be making its way onto Facebook for iOS, with an App Store update imminent.

Are you one of those iPhone users who are just simply too cool to walk around with the ringtone enabled on the device?
