At last week's I/O dev conference, Google made a whole host of announcements, among them a potentially Spotify-killing update to its Music service. Named "Google Play Music All Access," the new streamer boasts an impressive catalog of tunes right off the bat, but as is typically the case for fledgling Google products, it remains available only to Android users at this moment in time. But, as is often the case in these circumstances, a workaround has been created for those on Apple's iOS, so if you're rocking an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and were looking for a peek at All Access Music, a recent update to the popular gMusic app will enable you to realize your dreams.
Seldom, when launching the Safari mobile browser on an iOS device, do we wish to go back to the same page we were looking at several minutes / hours / days previously. Often, it's an annoyance to me that Safari launches on a Google search performed a day earlier to settle a minor dispute, and there's usually that couple of seconds' delay in loading the old page before I can get on with the new task at hand. As is so often the case with the thriving Cydia community, there's a tweak for that; it's called SafariBlankPage, and we've got all of the details coming up after the leap!
When Siri launched way back when, we all got super excited about the possibilities of talking to our phones and having them go off and find the information we need. Then we got our hands on it and realized that perhaps it wasn't all we had hoped.
BlackBerry is on the cusp of turning its proprietary BlackBerry Messenger service (BBM) into a multi-platform experience. Keeping BBM specific to the company's own devices worked wonders when the company was flying high atop the market, but in looking to reestablish its presence in the iOS / Android-dominated market, BlackBerry is now looking to spread its popular messaging tool to users of those two pivotal platforms.
New app updates are always exciting, and today saw a new version of the Facebook for iOS app hit the App Store. More details and the download link can be found right after the jump.
Tweaks that make it easier and quicker to launch apps from the iOS lock screen seem to be something of a booming sector at the moment. Cydia has seen more than a few new tweaks that add new ways to quickly launch apps from the lock screen, often by replacing the stock 'Slide to Unlock' method of getting into a device.
It may have only been a number of days since Apex Dev Team launched Velox for iPhone tweak into the jailbreak world, but it seems that it has already been accepted as one of the best and popular tweaks we have seen in a long while. Adding swipe gestures onto native app icons with the intention of bringing additional functionality into a folder window is obviously an extremely good idea. So good in fact that it has already started inspiring developers to build add-ons for Velox which offers functionality that doesn't exist with a standard installation of the tweak.
I love music, and whenever I'm checking out the newest entries to the Cydia Store, those purporting to enhance the listening experience are always among the first to pique my interest. If you also enjoy listening to music, particularly if you like doing so on your iOS device, then you might also like a new tweak by developer busheman, which brings full screen album art to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch's lock screen.
Facebook Messenger for iPhone has been updated today with one of our favorite features – Stickers – along with a bunch of other improvements. We’ve got the details on the update along with the download link right after the break.
If you are a jailbroken iPhone or iPod touch user who loves nothing more than customizing and changing the aesthetics of iOS, then it could definitely be worth checking out the Athena package that has recently landed on the BigBoss repository. Many jailbreak fans regularly download and install full system themes that are then activated through WinterBoard to take care of their artistic pleasures, but Athena could be a great little alternative for those who just want some added eye candy on the app icons.
