Google is known for doing some rather strange things, even if they eventually turn out to be brilliant. Take Google's Fiber broadband rollout to select markets as a prime example of something that had us shrugging our shoulders before realizing that it made so much sense we can't work out why it didn't do it before.
Even now, nearly two months since the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were released and we're still waiting for some major players to update their apps to support Apple's two new smartphones. One of those apps that people have been waiting for an update to is the Netflix app, and that update just landed on the App Store.
Alongside some very interesting new tweaks, jailbreak developers have been busily updating some of the old classics. Over the years, a collection of 50-100 tweaks have risen to prominence and, through the iOS versions, stayed put. IntelliScreenX, otherwise known as ISX by those who use it, is arguably one of the most feature-rich tweaks on offer via Cydia, and with Pangu8 having permitted those on Apple's most recent software to reap the benefits of a jailbreak, ISX is almost ready for prime time.
Filippo Bigarella's famed Springtomize tweak has, in recent years, established itself as the go-to utility for modifying hundreds of little aspects of Apple's iOS operating system. Be it an aesthetic annoyance, such as a status bar entry that won't disappear, or a functional limitation, Springtomize operates as an all-in-one service that essentially combines the prowess of dozens of other tweaks, nullifying them in the process, and having already announced an updated version of Springtomize 3 for iOS 8, the author has now gone and rolled it out.
Popular slow motion app TruSloMo has been updated to support super slow motion at 240fps as well as the new iPhone 6 / 6 Plus while also having its in-app purchase put on sale.
Some jailbreak tweaks are huge alterations to the way iOS works or completely change the way it looks. Others are much more subtle in what they do, preferring instead to make minor alterations to the operating system in very specific ways.
The successor to the popular HideMe7 Cydia tweak for iOS 7, HideMe8 is now available for iOS 8 / 8.1 as well. HideMe8 should be your one-stop app to tweak and remove all your UI elements in Apple’s latest and greatest firmware for mobile devices.

iCleaner Pro, designed and developed by Italian developer Ivano Bilenchi, has just been taken to version7.3.0 beta. This latest release contains a whole host of bug fixes that were found in 7.2.x, as well as initial support for jailbroken iOS 8 devices. If you've liberated your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad using the latest Pangu8 untether for iOS 8, and have an innate desire to continually monitor storage and wasted space on that device then iCleaner Pro is more than likely the package for you.
The jailbreak scene is there for one thing, and one thing only and that's to open iOS up to possibilities that Apple can't or simply won't. Over the years there has been plenty of things fall into both categories, and while some have eventually found their way into future releases of iOS, some are still absent.
