Download U2 ‘Invisible’ For Free On iTunes; Each Download Will Generate $1 For Charity

Ben Reid·February 3, 2014
Apple has teamed up with the Bank of America to help boost donations to its RED campaign in the fight against AIDS. The collaborative effort, which has also drafted in the musical tones of Irish rock band U2, sees the Bank of America pledging one dollar for every download of U2's new song "Invisible" on iTunes, and since the song is free from Apple's online music store, it should help the charity pick up some much-needed capital in the fight against one of the world's deadliest diseases.

Ben Reid·January 30, 2014

Apple’s Valentine’s Day Promo Begins With A Bad Pun

Ben Reid·January 28, 2014
"Love is in the air" is a famous phrase, and one that you're probably going to be hearing ad nauseam as we close in in Valentine's day halfway through next month. Apple has, quite naturally, sought to latch onto this brief period of gift-buying, and with the iPad Air being among its marquee products, used that trusty old saying to its advantage. But while, as the company states on the promotional landing page, "love is in the Air" (like, the iPad Air.. geddit?), the feel-good vibe doesn't extend to any sort of price-cut for the new, and highly sought-after device. Still, there are plenty of gifts lovingly hand-picked by the fruit company, (see, we can all do bad puns), and if you feel like treating yourself (or that special someone) this Valentine's, Apple is looking to reel you in.

Hidden iOS In The Car Feature From iOS 7.0.3 Gets Video Demo

Ben Reid·January 28, 2014
A week ago, app developer Steven Troughton-Smith revealed some interesting screenshots regarding the forthcoming iOS in the Car feature from Apple. Although it is unknown when exactly the grand roll out will commence, Troughton-Smith's findings manifested through a beta build of iOS 7.1, and as such, we anticipate that the final version may well include the new automobile-friendly implementation. Since last week, the well-known dev has been digging into iOS 7.0.3 and discovered that certain features of iOS in the Car are already present (albeit hidden) deep within this release, and using the iOS Simulator, has posted a clip onto YouTube, offering - for the first time - a brief glimpse of the dash-tailored system in operation.

With the 30th anniversary of the Mac, everyone's reminiscing about their history with the computer that arguably put Apple on the map. Thirty years after its announcement at an Apple shareholder meeting on January 24th 1984, the Mac has changed considerably, but Steve Jobs' vision of a computer that is both easy to use and powerful enough to do proper work with lives on. The new Mac Pro may pack more power than most of us would know what to do with, but thanks to Mac OS X, you don't need to be a computer scientist to use it.

A report from The Wall Street Journal is suggesting that Apple is becoming increasingly interested in exploring the ever-important world of mobile based payments. Next-Gen Apple TV Releasing In March; Gaming Support Coming Via Update [Report]

Ben Reid·January 24, 2014
There's no getting away from the fact that Tim Cook once described Apple TV as a "hobby," but with once-rampant speculation of the company's connected TV plans having apparently died down, it's fair to say that the understated set-top box has been treated with a little more respect by its overlord during the past few months. A plethora of updates have seen various content arrive from a host of Apple's partners, and now, it looks as though a looming update could also bring gaming to the party.
