Apple has teamed up with the Bank of America to help boost donations to its RED campaign in the fight against AIDS. The collaborative effort, which has also drafted in the musical tones of Irish rock band U2, sees the Bank of America pledging one dollar for every download of U2's new song "Invisible" on iTunes, and since the song is free from Apple's online music store, it should help the charity pick up some much-needed capital in the fight against one of the world's deadliest diseases.
While Apple is still very much trying to stabilize iOS 7 into a platform on which it can build, attention is already turning towards what could be part of the iOS 8 experience that is due to land later this year. With the iOS 7 redesign being somewhat on the radical side, all eyes are one where Apple takes its mobile operating system during the next few months.
Moments ago, it emerged that Apple had released a minor update for iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c users in the form of iOS 7.0.5. In the release notes, Apple made note of the point that the update amended some issues affecting folks in China, but it wasn't immediately apparent whether the jailbreak had been patched or not. Now, seasoned jailbreaker MuscleNerd has taken to Twitter and urged those eligible for the iOS 7.0.5 update to refrain from doing so.
Apple just released iOS 7.0.5 download links for select devices. This update is currently only available for iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c and corrects network provisioning for models that are sold in China.
"Love is in the air" is a famous phrase, and one that you're probably going to be hearing ad nauseam as we close in in Valentine's day halfway through next month. Apple has, quite naturally, sought to latch onto this brief period of gift-buying, and with the iPad Air being among its marquee products, used that trusty old saying to its advantage. But while, as the company states on the promotional landing page, "love is in the Air" (like, the iPad Air.. geddit?), the feel-good vibe doesn't extend to any sort of price-cut for the new, and highly sought-after device. Still, there are plenty of gifts lovingly hand-picked by the fruit company, (see, we can all do bad puns), and if you feel like treating yourself (or that special someone) this Valentine's, Apple is looking to reel you in.
A week ago, app developer Steven Troughton-Smith revealed some interesting screenshots regarding the forthcoming iOS in the Car feature from Apple. Although it is unknown when exactly the grand roll out will commence, Troughton-Smith's findings manifested through a beta build of iOS 7.1, and as such, we anticipate that the final version may well include the new automobile-friendly implementation. Since last week, the well-known dev has been digging into iOS 7.0.3 and discovered that certain features of iOS in the Car are already present (albeit hidden) deep within this release, and using the iOS Simulator, has posted a clip onto YouTube, offering - for the first time - a brief glimpse of the dash-tailored system in operation.

A report from The Wall Street Journal is suggesting that Apple is becoming increasingly interested in exploring the ever-important world of mobile based payments. Research and future projection has suggested that proliferation of mobile devices into every corner of the globe will mean that mobile payments could account for more than $90 billion worth of annual transactions in the United States alone by the end of 2017. As one of the most important providers of smartphones and tablets in the world, Apple Inc. is said to be laying the foundations that could see the introduction of its own mobile payments solution.

There's no getting away from the fact that Tim Cook once described Apple TV as a "hobby," but with once-rampant speculation of the company's connected TV plans having apparently died down, it's fair to say that the understated set-top box has been treated with a little more respect by its overlord during the past few months. A plethora of updates have seen various content arrive from a host of Apple's partners, and now, it looks as though a looming update could also bring gaming to the party.
