AT&T has been exclusively holding the iPhone for three years now, and it looks as if it’s finally going to come to an end soon. Apple is expected to announce the Verizon iPhone in early 2011. BusinessWeek reports that the announcement may not take place at CES 2011, but shortly afterwards, either by or before Valentines Day i.e. February 14th.
The original iPhone caused internal panic at RIM according to a former employee. RIM allegedly held several meetings the day after the iPhone was announced. Since Comex’s untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 has been delayed, MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev-Team has announced that they are going to release their “backup plan” for untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak over the Christmas weekend. However before they do a general release, they are looking for testers to try out this latest version of Redsn0w. The requirements for testing Redsn0w for iOS 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak are as follows.
It looks like everyone seems to have missed this! But if this statement from Comex is anything to go by, the untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 might be as simple as installing a package from Cydia over your existing Redsn0w tethered jailbreak – Yes, you don’t need to restore or re-jailbreak your device.
It was initially expected that the untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak might be released somewhere around the Christmas Eve. But if this latest tweet by Comex is anything to go by, we may not see an untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 by this Christmas.
