We are not sure if this is a bug or a feature but if you try to push the power/sleep button for three times in a row on the lockscreen, the iPhone goes right into flashlight mode showing bright white screen. I have also tested this and it appears to be working on iPhone OS 4 Beta 4.
Remember what Steve Jobs said about how “Magical” the iPad was? Well a young Japanese magician Shinya has performed a series of tricks right outside an Apple Store to prove just that.
After successfully selling one million iPads in the first month of its launch, Apple today in a press release has announced that they have now sold two million iPads in the first two months, making it an average selling of one million iPads every month. This is what Steve Jobs had to say on this occasion.
The iPhone hacker behind sn0wbreeze, f0recast and BlackBreeze today accidently put up a picture on his twitter account, showing version 1.6 of sn0wbreeze which promises to jailbreak iPod touch 2G on iPhone OS 4. The picture in question was removed quickly but the folks at The Technopath were quick enough to grab the image for everyone to see.
The developer behind Infiniboard, Infinidock, ProSwitcher and the UI designer of Spirit untethered jailbreak tool for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch has just posted screenshots of the upcoming jailbreak app for iPad named “ProSwitcher HD”. For those of you who don't know, ProSwitcher allows switching between applications (multitasking) running in background in a beautiful Palm Pre style cover flow-like mode. It basically act as a graphical extension to the already popular app from Cydia called Backgrounder to present all opened apps in a tabbed view, similar to the view seen on Mobile Safari browser.
There is a new modified version of PwnageTool floating around in the wild which promises to jailbreak iPhone 3GS on iPhone OS 4 Beta without upgrading the baseband. The creators of the original PwnageTool has confirmed that this version has been modified and redistributed without their permission, and most importantly, it doesn't patches some important files which are required for the ultrasn0w unlock to work properly.
While replying to a tweet, MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev Team has confirmed that an unlock for iPhone 3G/3GS on 05.12.01 baseband will be released once Apple announces the new iPhone along with final GM version of iPhone OS 4. This announcement is expected to be made at WWDC 2010 so it wont be long before we finally get our iPhones unlocked on this baseband.
If you thought the next platform wars between Microsoft (Windows Media Center), Google (Google TV) and Apple wont move to TV’s, you’ll be horribly wrong. According to the sources at Engadget, the next iteration of Apple TV will get a much needed complete revamp. It will be a small device (like iPhone), will be powered by a variant of iPhone OS, and best of all, will only cost a 100 bucks ($99 to be exact).
Apparently, an ex-Apple employee has managed to successfully jailbreak iPhone 3GS on iPhone OS 4 Beta. The redsn0w 0.9.5 jailbreak tool for iPhone OS 4 currently works on iPhone 3G only. The support for other iDevices will naturally follow once Apple releases iPhone OS 4 at WWDC. But KaatjeNL’s jailbreak method works on iPhone 3GS too. And the best thing about it is that it doesn't upgrade your baseband, which means you can enjoy iPhone OS 4, fully jailbroken on the older baseband with an unlock using ultrasn0w.
