Six Kinect Sensors Brings Video Conferencing To Life, Portrays 3D Like You’ve Never Seen Before [VIDEO]

Paul Paliath·May 5, 2012
Ever since the Kinect was released, people immediately began to see that the technology's potential extended far beyond gaming. A pretty extensive homebrew community surrounding the Kinect developed, eventually gaining support even from Microsoft. That's not surprising, however, given the plethora of cool stuff developed. And, speaking of cool stuff developed to bring the Kinect to new heights, a research team at the Human Media Lab of Canada's Queen's University led by professor Roel Vertegaal developed an insane 360-degree display called the Telepod. Basically, the primary function of the Telepod is to create a 3D hologram that slightly livens up videoconferencing.

Flipboard For Android Is Launching As A Galaxy S III Exclusive, Landing On Other Devices Later

Paul Paliath·May 4, 2012
So, for those of you who eagerly anticipated the Samsung Galaxy S III, here's another tidbit of news to be excited about: Flipboard, the highly popular social magazine app that's currently iOS-only will be making its debut to the Android platform exclusively on the Samsung Galaxy S III. Samsung will have exclusivity to the app for quite some time, meaning that it will be a bit of a wait before we can expect the app to hit the Play store or other Android handsets.

Paul Paliath·May 2, 2012
Living in the U.S., I am still unable to head out and see what is described as an awesome movie by friends living elsewhere in the world. And, if you're in the same boat as me and happen to also own an Android phone, then you're in luck. A live wallpaper was released and developed so that you can marvel at The Avengers logo, burning car, and Avengers characters. Anytime, on your phone.

Meet The iPhone Plus: New iPhone Concept Which Is Ridiculously Thin And Aluminicious [IMAGES]

Paul Paliath·May 1, 2012
With the next-generation iPhone set to launch sometime in the next few months - many credible rumors suggest October - concepts of what the device could possibly look like are being produced by designers already. ADR Studio, a common source of such art has outed yet another concept mockup of what they call the "iPhone Plus". It depicts an extremely thin iPhone with a 4.3" screen and an aluminum back, similar to the iPad, or even the first-generation iPhone in some regards.

Why Apple Shouldn’t Kill Off The 17-Inch MacBook Pro

Paul Paliath·April 27, 2012
While I often ignore the senseless rumors that come from the tomfoolery of tech "analysts", this latest one claiming that Apple plans to discontinue the 17" MacBook Pro comes from Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst with KGI Securities who has gotten some things right about Apple products in the past. Kuo believes that this discontinuation will come as a result of Apple's convergence of the Apple's Air and Pro notebook lineups. In Q1 of 2012, Apple sold roughly 3.1 million notebooks. Out of that figure, nearly half of those were of the 13-inch MacBook Pro. Kuo has a bleak estimation of the 17-inch Pro sales figure, however, stating that only 50,000 were sold in that quarter.

Wolfram Alpha Desktop Client For Windows Now Available For Download!

Paul Paliath·April 27, 2012
Wolfram Alpha, the knowledge and computation service that can be found on the web, or on smartphones - you may know it as the service which feeds Siri with data to return to you - will be coming to the desktop, but in a rather unconventional way. When I read the headline that this was going to happen, I initially thought that they were developing an app for either the Windows 8 or OS X app stores.

Will iOS Gaming Overtake Console Gaming?

Paul Paliath·April 26, 2012
As a result of iOS devices significantly gaining ground, pundits have started discussing their role in the world of gaming. Now, before I begin, I do want to make something clear. iOS has nothing on hardcore PC and console gaming, and by the looks of things, it won't for quite some time. Those of us who play Battlefield or even CoD will still be turning to the console or PC for our fix, there's no question about that.

SkyDrive vs iCloud vs Dropbox: Which Is The Best Cloud Storage / Backup Service That You Should Use?

Paul Paliath·April 24, 2012
To the cloud, file storage service! That certainly seems to be the mantra as of late. And the competition amongst companies who provide such services is definitely heating up. Dropbox, a popular choice for quite some time (its name is practically the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about cloud storage) is being threatened by SkyDrive, which really stepped up its game today. iCloud also provides an unbeatable seamless backup/syncing experience for users of iOS and Mac. On top of this, Google wants to get their foot in the door of this market with Google Drive.

Paul Paliath·April 20, 2012
The next-generation iPhone which Apple will be releasing sometime later this year might just be implementing in-cell touch panels produced by Sharp and Toshiba, according to a report from DigiTimes.

Windows RT: Was This A Good Or Bad Branding Decision?

Paul Paliath·April 19, 2012
Earlier this week, Microsoft officially unveiled the official SKUs of Windows 8, and, much to the surprise of many Microsoft enthusiasts, they actually simplified things. However, while the simplification is definitely a great step as far as branding is concerned, they did do one peculiar thing: The SKU for Windows on ARM was named Windows RT.
