We've seen designers and digital artists share their own personal vision of what the future of Apple's iOS will look like. We've witnessed what a potential touch-screen iMac could look like and we've even see a number of imaginative pieces that outline how a potential iOS or Android powered smartwatch could work. It's very rare that designers, or general users for that matter, take the time to reimagine what Microsoft's mobile operating system could be like, but that's exactly what we have here with a Windows Phone 9 concept.

The first wave of MFi (Made For iPhone) accessories may not win awards for design innovation or aesthetic beauty, but they did manage to highlight the power of what is possible with mobile gaming, and draw serious attention to Apple's Game Controller APIs that launched as part of iOS 7. MOGA, the company behind the MOGA Ace Power iOS 7 controller, has taken on-board the lessons learnt from the initial launch and have gone back to the drawing board to build their next MFi product, as shown in the company's official teaser image below.
iOS has been designed by Apple to be as visually appealing as possible to the widest audience. Granted, not everyone is going to agree with the overall look and feel of a piece of software, but the challenge for a company like Apple is to come up with a visual layout that captures the imagination of as many users as possible. For those who don't agree with that artistic vision, and who are jailbroken, there is always the option to theme the device and change the firmware's appearance. And now there is an option for iOS 7 users to change the color of the displayed keyboard on a jailbroken device, thanks to the ColorY0urBoard tweak.
The maker of the iPhone, iPad and Apple TV has updated its iOS Security document to include intricate, detailed information pertaining to the Touch ID sensor that is found on the iPhone 5s. The launch of the iPhone 5s, along with the ability to authenticate and access the device using biometric detection, brought with it a myriad of questions and concerns from the security conscious. Apple hopes that the updated PDF document will answer a few of those outstanding concerns.
Unlocking a smartphone with the intention of freeing it up to use on any network has always been a contentious point amongst users. Some consumers approach the subject firmly with the mindset that they own the device and therefore have the right to have it unlocked for use on any carrier they like. Others take a more cautious approach, remaining baffled by whether or not the act of unlocking is actually legal. If you are one of the many that remain unsure about the legality of the issue, then the US House of Representatives may have just cleared the situation up by passing a bill relating to device unlocking.
A number of developers have already updated their tweaks and themes for iOS 7, while others are still frantically working on getting their masterpiece in front of the masses. The Athena package by Vatsal Manot was often relied on by pre-iOS 7 users to apply a little flair and style to the device without the need for large WinterBoard theme installations . It may have taken a while, but Manot has rewritten his package from the ground up to be fully compatible with iOS 7 and released it as a new tweak known as Athena 2.
If you were blown away by the Galaxy S5, but just can't bring yourself to fill the bank account of Samsung, then fear not, as Goophone has you covered with their imaginatively named S5. Samsung's unveiling of its next flagship device has undoubtedly peaked the interest of the smartphone using community, and based on a quick glance and browse of the device’s specs, you would be forgiven for thinking that the Goophone S5 is the same device. However, it's not. It's a very convincing copy that's taken less than two days to get out into the real world.
The annual Mobile World Congress gathering, organized by the GSM Association, has been taking place in Barcelona for the last couple of days. Tech giants such as Sony, Samsung and LG use the event to introduce and showcase their latest tech in front of the world's press, but MWC also hosts the Global Mobile Awards that rip through various categories to filter out and award the best-of-the-best of the last 12 months. The awards may be packed full of random and obscure categories that don't necessarily appeal to the average technology enthusiast, but there was some great news for Apple and HTC, with both companies receiving a best in class award for one of their products.
A3Tweaks, the developers behind popular tweaks such as Auxo and AltKeyboard, have announced via Twitter that they will once again be taking the jailbreak world by storm "within the next month". The quality of mobile gaming is definitely improving, but some of us are old enough to remember the excitement that Nintendo's original Entertainment System (NES) and Game Boy brought into our lives. We've seen emulators galore being released over the last few weeks that bring the pleasure of the old school Nintendo experience to our iOS and Android devices, meaning that it shouldn't really come as a shock that a new Game Boy emulator from Ben Midi has appeared for iOS, Android and Windows users.
