iOS 7.1 Beta 3 Lets Users Delete OTA Download File, Here’s How

Ben Reid·January 14, 2014
Even though you can pick up an iPhone 5s with up to 64GB of storage space while the iPad ranges push the boat all the way out to 128GB, most of us still like to de-clutter wherever possible. Whether this takes the form of moving our media content to the cloud or simply deleting apps as and when they're no longer needed, it's nice to have a substantial amount of space spare. One way you can save space in the beta'd iOS 7.1 is by removing unwanted OTA updates that have been downloaded onto your device, and as discovered by the folks at Macerkopf, you'll be able to save yourself a tidy 1GB!

Windows 8.2 / 9 Release Date Tipped For 2015, Will Be Announced At BUILD This Year

Ben Reid·January 14, 2014
Windows 8, it's fair to say, did not make the kind of impression on users that Microsoft had hoped, and although the Windows 8.1 follow-up has been generally well received, it goes without mention that the preceding Windows 7 is considered by most to be the strongest release to date. It should come as very little surprise, then, that Windows 9 - or Windows 8.2 as we like to call it here - looks set to arrive next year in 2015, and according to a report by Paul Thurrott, we'll be getting an official word on it at April's BUILD 2014 dev conference.

Nokia’s Android Smartphone Prototype Leaks [Photos]

Ben Reid·January 13, 2014
Microsoft's acquisition of Nokia's products and services department back in September of last year had thrown any aspirations of the Finnish company delivering an Android handset into doubt. Its Redmond overlord is, after all, trying to make strides with its own struggling mobile ecosystem in Windows Phone. But nevertheless, talk of a Nokia-made device running Google's Android has remained, and as far as we know, it's being developed under the codename Normandy. Today, courtesy of various sources on both Twitter and China's Weibo, we could have our first legitimate glimpse at the so-called "engineering prototype." Check it out after the leap!

How To Get Classic Slide-to-Unlock Sound Back On iOS 7 Lock Screen

Ben Reid·January 12, 2014
Although the likes of BiteSMS's recent arrival have shown just what the Cydia Store can offer iOS users who dare to enter the dark side of jailbreaking, it's often a collection of small, subtle tweaks that truly enhance the experience of using an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. If you're a hopeless nostalgic, and miss that old unlocking sound that Jony Ive and the Gang decided to eradicate with iOS 7, then UnlockSound7 is one small mod that will restore a sense of familiarity to proceedings. Check out the details after the break!

Galaxy Note 3 Neo Leaks; A Slightly Smaller And Less Powerful Note 3 [Photo]

Ben Reid·January 10, 2014
Samsung is the mobile industry's power releaser, and even though the Galaxy Note 3 has sold in excess of 10 million units since the September release, the Korean company is already planning a revised, cheaper model. According to a leaked snap, we can now see how the handset stands up against the real deal, and since, in the eyes of many, the Note 3's specs amount to overkill anyway, perhaps the Neo model will sell strongly once it eventually debuts.

How To Add Contact Photos To iOS 7 Messages App

Ben Reid·January 10, 2014
Although iOS allows you to add images to contacts in your address book, for some reason, this feature still does not extend to the SMS app. Thankfully, the jailbreak tweak SMSContactPhotos, which essentially explains itself, has been updated for iOS 7, and as seems to be particularly in vogue for this latest Apple firmware release, has been named SMSContactPhotos7.

iPhone 5s Vs Lumia 1020 Vs DSLR – Elite Cameras Compared

Ben Reid·January 10, 2014
Nokia, which was recently subject to an acquisition by close partner Microsoft, has struggled in the smartphone industry since the iPhone came into play, but while lackluster sales are largely attributable to the Windows Phone ecosystem, there's no question that the devices themselves - particularly the cameras - are of the highest order. DPReview has pitted the revered 41-megapixel sensor of the Lumia 1020 and the 8-megapixel rear-facing snapper of the iPhone 5s against some of its favorite DSLRs, and aside from other findings, determined that the Nokia camera is more than just a little bit better than that of its rival. In fact, it's far, far superior.

Purported iPhone 6 Metal Frame Leaks; Thinner Form Factor And Larger Display Suggested [Photos]

Ben Reid·January 9, 2014
The iPhone 5s may have been on the market for less than three months, but as we've come to expect with twelve month release cycles, talk of its eventual successor is already more than under way. We've heard a bunch of stories through the grapevine hitherto, including talk of at least one model with a larger display, and today, CTech has posted what it claims to be the frame of such a device.

Ben Reid·January 9, 2014
Back in December, we heard that the official Spotify app would be subject to an update, allowing users of the free service to enjoy uninterrupted music on shuffle. Today, the changes have come into effect for those on iOS, and the latest edition of the popular music streaming app brings forth all of the other alterations outlined just a month ago.
