Apple Leather Case For iPhone 8 Shown Off On Video?

September 12th simply cannot come soon enough for those of us who are eagerly and impatiently awaiting the announcement that will bring us not one, not two, but three new high-end iPhones this year and even as we edge ever closer to that big media event, we continue to see more leaks relating to the iPhone 8.

Or should that be the iPhone Edition?

Whatever the flagship iPhone will be called – let’s call it iPhone 8 for now – new media surfacing today allegedly give us a glimpse at the internal iPhone 8 speaker and Lightning connector components. While the iPhone 8 will reportedly feature wireless charging, bringing the technology to the iPhone for the first time, those who still require charging via a cable will also be pleased to learn that the device will support USB-C fast charging as well.

Oh, and here’s what the aforementioned leaked component looks like:

Photos of internal parts are all well and good, but the most interesting leak today involves a video which is purported to show cases that are designed for the iPhone 8, complete with vertical camera cutout. The cases appear to be similar to Apple’s leather offerings but with what seems to be some quality control issues which would suggest that they are not actually Apple-made but rather cheaper alternatives being made ahead of Apple’s announcement. The quality of the inner lining of the cases looks suspect, with the overall finishing simply not looking up to par for what Apple’s usually high standards would require.

Oh, and that cutout on the rear of the case almost guarantees this is not an Apple product – the hole is so that the Apple logo on the rear of the iPhone 8 can still be seen even with a case on. Apple does not put cutouts into its cases, and as there have been plenty of leaks to suggest there will be no Touch ID sensor on the iPhone 8 so there is no other reason for that cutout to be there at all.
