Apple Launches Refreshed Certified Refurbished Online Store

Apple Inc. has taken the opportunity to give a design overhaul to its Certified Refurbished Online Store this week. The redesigned website, which is now public facing, gives customers the opportunity to purchase reduced price Apple hardware whilst still being guaranteed “Apple quality.”

Tim Cook’s company hasn’t made sweeping changes to the functionality of the store, instead choosing to focus on key elements that make it more usable, easier to navigate, and more visually pleasing which puts the products at the forefront of the experience.

That includes making the product tiles a lot bigger to give a clear view of the hardware and changing how the navigation structure works to make it super simple for prospective buyers to flick between different categories. It’s now extremely easy to go between MacBook and iPhone, for example.

Until this refresh, it almost felt as though the Certified Refurbished Online Store was an afterthought as it had essentially been left behind as far as modern design and usability was concerned. It now feels as though the company has recognized that there is a growing hunger for more affordable hardware, with many customers willing to purchase refurbished wares in order to save money, and therefore has decided to invest internal time and effort to bring the site up to scratch with the rest of the company’s user-facing websites and branding.

The new homepage of the online store features a large header banner image that highlights some of Apple’s products and leads with the wording that each purchase brings “guaranteed Apple quality.” This is likely to immediately lay to rest any fears that anyone has about purchasing hardware that is classified as refurbished.

There is also a very Apple-esque category menu that lets visitors quickly dive into the category of their choice with a single click as well as a section for “Featured Offers” which highlights deals which the company feels are potentially the best value for money.
