Apple has released the iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 software updates and you can install them on yuor iPhone and iPad, respectively, right now. Here’s how to do that via either the manual IPSW file or OTA routes.
Apple has been running a beta program for its 2026 software updates ever since they were announced at WWDC in June.

Months and various beta updates later, the releases are now available for public consumption. This after developers and public beta testers helped Apple address any teething issues and bugs that the betas found.
Now that those issues have been dealt with and the updates are ready for primetime, updating your iPhone and iPad couldn’t be easier.
If you want to go the OTA route, which is the easiest, go to Settings > General > Software Update to download and install the new version.
If you’ve been testing the betas, make sure to turn beta testing off to ensure you get the final, public version for your device.
If you’d prefer to download the new update’s IPSW files, you can got that route instead.
Step 1: You’ll need to download the correct IPSW file that corresponds to the iPhone or iPad that you are installing the updates onto. Make sure it’s the correct file otherwise the installation won’t begin. You can get it from here for iPhone, or here for iPad.
Step 2: Head to Settings > iCloud > Find My. Make sure you toggle the switch into the OFF position before connecting to your computer.
Step 3: Connect your device to your PC or Mac. If iTunes wasn’t open then it will likely launch. Fire it up manually if it isn’t already running. On a Mac, open a Finder Window.
Step 4: Select your connected device from the interface. This will take you to that particular device in the iTunes software and give you access to new features. Mac users should click the Finder icon and select the iPhone in the sidebar.
Step 5: You need to do a manual restore rather than a standard restore. This involves holding down the ALT key on a Mac, or the SHIFT key on a Windows PC, followed by clicking the Restore iPhone… button. Browse and select the required IPSW file when prompted.
Your iPhone will complete the update process and restart a couple of times. Once it’s done, you’re good to go — it’s time to enjoy iOS 27 and iPadOS 27!
