Apple has today released for download iOS 26.6.2 IPSW links and OTA update to the public. It can now be downloaded via the OTA update system on all compatible iPhones. Alongside iOS 26.6.2, Apple has also released iPadOS 26.6.2 for compatible iPads.
However, those hoping for any big new feature additions will be left disappointed.
Instead, this new update is all about addressing a bug that prevented some iPhones from updating software over a cellular connection.
This update fixes an issue that prevents downloading a software update over a cellular connection.
That’s the only change that we’ve been told of to date, and the update’s release so close to the expected mid-September release of iOS 27 would suggest that this is simply a fix for that specific bug. It’s also likely that Apple was keen to ensure that this fix was in the wild before it asked users to update to iOS 27 — potentially over a cellular connection.
The iOS 27 update is set to bring many new features to iPhones the world over, including the new Siri AI functionality.
It’s been in beta testing ever since it was announced at the WWDC event in June, with multiple beta versions tested by developers as well as those in the public beta program. It’s expected that the first Release Candidate version of iOS 27 will be released on September 9 alongside the unveiling of the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Ultra.
To update to iOS 26.6.2, head over to Settings > General > Software Update section of the device and grab the OTA Update from there. Alternatively, you can download IPSW file for your device from below and then update to it using iTunes on Windows or Finder on Mac.
