Apple is rumored to be readying a special iPhone to celebrate the smartphone’s 20th anniversary, and a new report claims it will use a custom, curved Samsung OLED display.
Apple revamped the iPhone to celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2017, launching the iPhone X with a whole new design. It’s expected to do the same with the 20th-anniversary iPhone in 2027.

Now, MacRumors reports that Samsung has been chosen to provide a special display for the device. Citing a Chinese supply chain report, MacRumors says that Samsung will provide an “equal-depth quad-curved panel design that uses ‘micro-curves’ to keep the curve very shallow.” This is the opposite of the approach Samsung takes on its own devices, which have a more dramatic curve at the edge of their displays.
Smaller curves could help Apple make the iPhone nicer to hold while also reducing the distortion normally associated with these curved displays.
The supply chain report, which comes from leaker Digital Chat Station, also notes that Samsung will use a display that doesn’t have an OLED polarizer. The move should make for a brighter display thanks to the use of COE (Color Filter on Encapsulation) technology.

We’re still a long way from Apple announcing the so-called iPhone 20, and it’s possible there will be changes to the design and construction before it ships. It’s likely the iPhone 20 will be announced and released in September 2027.
