6.7-Inch iPhone 12 To Be Thinner Than iPhone 11 Pro Max, Pack Larger Camera Sensors, More

The smart money is on Apple announcing a whole raft of new iPhones later this year and one of them is thought to be a massive 6.7-inch monster.

Now, MacOtakara has a new report out that claims to have more information on what that phone will offer. The report cites the infamous people within Apple’s supply chain, so take this all with a pinch of salt.

Unfortunately, the original report isn’t in English and Google Translate does mangle it somewhat. But the folks at MacRumors have been able to decipher parts of it, making some sense of it as they go.

Here are some bullets that run down the main points of the MacOtakara report.

  • 6.7-inch model will have a thickness around 7.4mm, which would be nearly 10% thinner than the iPhone 11 Pro Max at 8.1mm
  • All four new iPhone models will have OLED displays and Face ID
  • 5.4-inch model’s height would be between the iPhone SE and iPhone 8, while at least one of the 6.1-inch iPhone models would have a height that falls between the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro
  • 6.7-inch model will be slightly taller than the iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • 5.4-inch and lower-end 6.1-inch models will have dual-lens rear camera arrays identical to the iPhone 11
  • 6.7-inch model will have a triple-lens rear camera with larger sensors than the iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • 5.4 inch, 6.7-inch, and at least one 6.1-inch model will have different numbers of microphone holes along the bottom

There are of course plenty of details about all of the new iPhones there, but it’s the fact that the new, largest iPhone will be taller and thinner than existing iPhones that catches our eye. And then there’s the fact that the rear camera will feature larger camera sensors than the existing iPhone 11 Pro lineup, too. That could make for an interesting-looking phone to say the least.

We’ll be learning more about what Apple has in store for 2020 as the year progresses, especially once WWDC rolls around in June. The first beta of iOS 14 will arrive at the same time and those betas have become great sources of leaks ahead of new iPhone announcements. We can’t wait to see what’s coming later this year.
