GTA V Releasing In Spring 2013, Confirms Rockstar Games, Pre-Orders Begin On November 5

If you’ve been following Rockstar’s leaked screenies of Grand Theft Auto V, you’ll have noticed just how darned awesome it looks. Gamers have been salivating over the teasing images for months, but with precious little in the way of an ETA, quite a few have grown a little disgruntled.

To offer a little relief to the feeling of angst, it looks as though the eagerly-anticipated title could be heading our way in Spring of next year. In an official press release, Rockstar has confirmed the title will be heading the way of Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners as of Spring 2013.

The statement continued:

Grand Theft Auto V takes place in a re-imagined, present-day Southern California in the largest and most thriving game-world we have ever created set in the sprawling city of Los Santos and for miles beyond.

As well as that, preorders for the title will begin next week on November 5, so those of you anxious to ensure yourself a copy at launch will be able to do so.

It’s not a bad time to be a fan of GTA right now. The tenth anniversary of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is almost upon us, and to celebrate, Rockstar will be throwing out a port of the classic title to iOS and Android. It’s said to offer quite a few improvements on the old version, too, and with GTA III’s ten-year version providing a perfect example of how a game should be reintroduced onto a new platform, one has to hope Vice City follows suit.

Still, I can’t help but long for GTA V. The opportunity to roam around the extremely realistic environments we’ve seen so far is something many of us simply do not want to wait for, and while Spring may be a little sooner than some had predicted, it’s going to seem a lot longer with the movie-esque screen captures Rockstar will inevitably continue feeding us until that release point arrives.

When the publisher does push out any more GTA V niceties though, we’ll be sure to send them your way, so please stay tuned to our coverage here at Redmond Pie.
