OMG I jailbroke my 3G for the first time yesterday, worked fine but then had a problem as stupid me tried to load Cydia, Rock and Sn0w all at the same time which the iphone could not cope with. Ended up restoring the phone, but itunes would only let me if i upgraded to 3.1.3. Now I have a previously jailbroken iphone running on 3.1.3. If only I had done this the day before. Am I stuck in the brown stuff?

yo guys. i was also one of the unlucky ones who mistakenly updated to 3.1.3 but now my touch is jailbroken againl. all thanks to the redsnow 9.0.4. download it from somewhere in google and then download firmware 3.1.2. yes i said 3.1.2 and not 3.1.3 on purpose. u dont need to try restoring as it obviously wont work. what u need to do is after u download the firmware and redsnow, use firmware 3.1.2 even if ur ipod is updated to 3.1.3. u can then enjoy ur precious jailbroken ipod again. if u have any problems still, tell me about it at sonam1970@hotmail.com

Unplug your iPhone fro your computer.Turn your iPhone off. Hold the Home button and then plug it into your computer. This will put it into recover/DFU mode. Im not sure which. Just go to devices and hit Restore and you can restore it to whatever update you wish with the same method of Shift+Restore. Hope this helped.

You can Jailbreak you iphone fully on MAC OSX or if you dont have a mac you can Use Snow Leopard VMWARE and when it comes to restoring the Firmware in ITUNES just transfer the IPSW file to windows and update on that.

i downloaded the “iPhone1,1_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.zip” file and when i unzip it, there is no 1 file with *.ipsw… its a mix of a lot of files which are not recognized with snowbreeze 1.5v.

No chance at all.(Yet) If it was 2g or even 3g (Not 3gs) you would have chance to jailbreak only. You will have to wait to Unlock and Jailbreak you phone. I guess it will be released when there will be a newer version of iPhone. Like the 4G.

actually it depends cuz da iphone 3g running 3.1.3 (5.12.01) can be jailbroken and unlocked. but you have to downgrade your baseband to achieve this .

i am not sure though because i only jailbroken ipods an iphones up to 2 gen and 1 3rd gen. but i read it somewhere that u can.

That works for my iphone 3G 3.1.3 with baseband 5.12.01, Model MB, Bootloader 5.9.
I’d sync with itunes and updated everything, lost my cydia and all my jailbroken apps, couldn’t downgrade to run blackra1n, couldn’t apply my custom sn0wbreeze firmware.

1. iReb to get my white screen
2. install ur custom firmware for iphone 3g 3.1.3 not activated ****** (I use my iphone with the vendor so dont need to unlock it.)

so unpack it to lets say the desktop. it should unpack as the ipsw.

i have the same phone and stuff. how did u jailbreak? there is a thing in cydia apparently “fuzzyband” that i wanna try to downgrade the baseband to unlock..

I have a 2g running 3.1.3. I went to add cydia yesterday and it put my phone into a never ending cycle of the apple logo rebooting and rebooting over and over again. I have searched everywhere on how to fix this. I used redsn0w, ultrsn0w, and blackra1n to get it out of this reboot mode didn't work. So i tried using iREB also didn't work. Anybody have a suggestion on how to fix this? My iTunes doesn't even recognize my phone now.

you have to go and get new hardware (new phone) mine did the same thing so i finally brought it to apple they couldn't restart it so they gave me a new one.

try putting the phone into “dfu” mode and run redsnow,using the original .ipsw file. Worked for me a couple times. Good luck.

try downloading the .ipsw using google chrome or some other browser. Some browsers will fragment the file in a .zip that you can't put back together.

ok this is what i did and it works great after so many problems and i did it on 3.1.3
05.12.01 download redsnow new one then download firmware 3.1.2 on this site then use that as the ipsw follow the steps an bam you have a unlocked iphone also i have iphone 3g now with cydia and its 3.1.3 still

3.1.3 is an irrelevant update and quite useless. The only way to jailbreak is if you have saved your SHSH's through Cydia as this will allow you to upgrade and downgrade easily while gaining your jailbreak ability. Also keep in mind that if you have a new Iphone 3GS model with the new boot room then there is nothing you can do for the time being. The best solution to all this is to await 4.0 to come out in the summer and that is where you will find your jailbreak ability. Be patient.

I have faced the same problem before so what you have to do is just downgrade your firmware in to 3.1.2. bull shittt redsnow do not recognize this firmwares i tried many times, thats bull shit firmwares are in zips plus do not looks like the apples logos look, when i hit browse in redsnow i dont c any firmware, but i have the firmware saved in my desktop.

you just need to rename the .zip-file in .ipsw!!!
i had the same problem… just renamed the xxx.zip to xxx.ipsw and then it works without any problems!

hey man i have a question: So I downloaded both snowbreeze and the firmwear above for my Iphone 3GS. I then unzipped the firwear and was able to find it when I was using snowbreeze. However, when I found it, I was unable to click on anything. It just opened folder after folder until I couldn't open anymore and then I was unable to move on in the jailbreaking process. Hey ! If you accidentally updated thru iTunes you can still jailbreak using redsn0w,Pwnage tool (mac) or redno0w. for unlocking you need to be on baseband 04.28 or 05.11. You say you have an iPhone 3G. That means after jailbreaking; Open Cydia and search for “Fuzzy band” Fuzzy band can downgrade the modem baseband (not the firmware). There is currently no Unlock for baseband 05.12.07 but it's expected to be released some time in June. please remember ya Ibi el-eskandraneyah not to ever upgarde thru itunes in the future.

restore it by downloading 3.1.2 software by googling it and then After its finished downloading and saved to ur desktop Press and hold the shift key on itunes and then hit restore.The desktop will come up and just clock on 3.1.2 software.

the iphone is just stock on emergency calls only and when connected to itunes it says invalid SIM

Been trying snowbreeze for the past two days….keeps showing errors….nothing seems to be working and am seriously fed up with apple iphone…this is the second time my phone got locked…the first time i paid through my teeth to get it unlocked and then the bloody phone hangs up and so i put it in DFU mode to get it restored and itunes automatically updates the software and locks it again…….it really sucks…

did you update? plug into iTunes..
go to the summary page and hold shift and click the restore.
it will open a window. Download 3.1.2 and find it in that window. it will restore with 3.1.2 and yo ucan unlock again.

all you have to do is connect it to iTunes and it should just tell you there is an update there. it will install for you.

I have bought a new I phone 3GS with the new baseband. It was working fine with the blackra1n crack. ( i bought already cracked from india). I just removed one application and it stopped working. Not totally true, because the upgrade installs a newer bootloader and baseband, which up to date have not been unlocked.
Hope soon there will be new unlock software

dowload RedSn0w 0.9.4 to jailbrake it, this will install Cydia, then from Cydia download UltraSn0w version 0.93 and you will have you phone jailbraked and unlocked. Good luck. I tried that and it works.

this is not entirely true. you need to tell this guy the complete truth else you'll just frusrate him more. There is no unlock yet for 3.1.3 baseband 05.12.xx. jailbreak i agree but if you were able to unlock yours then you must have retained your old baseband somehow. so this simple solution u described won't work for this novis user. he just has to wait for the new unlock to be released by the dev team. i'm in these shoes too and waiting patiently

I believe, to get itunes to detect your iphone is in restore mode to show the button you need to – plug your iphone into your comp, with itunes running, you should hold down both the off button and home button together for 10seconds, then release the off button but keep the home button still pressed for another 10 seconds. The restore button should then be displayed in itunes.

install quickpwn, when you open it it will say “your phone is in restore mode, before continuing hold home and power then power” and it will kick it out of restore and sw will be downgraded

You jost have to download the zip file. then go to rename and change the .zip for .ipsw. to do so you have to follow this:

1. Go to My Documents and klick on tools.
2. Folder options klick on view
3. On view klick on:
Display the full path in the title bar… and in Show hidden files, …

4. klick Apply and then OK
5. then go to the zip file you download and right klick on it
6. Klick on rename, then change the .zip for .ipsw and push enter
7. Klick OK on the next window that will open and you are done….

What you do is you need to download the firmware 3.1.3 again. once you get that downloaded what you do after that is open up itunes. Then you press SHIFT and hold it down then click on the restore. A window will pop up and you need to select the firmware 3.1.3. Click Ok and it will restore your Ipod to 3.1.3

First of all, you don't need to downgrade your iPhone 3G on 4.0 to get it unlocked! It just needs to be jailbroken. Once it is, then you need to:
1.MAKE SURE 3G IS OFF IN SETTINGS BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT TO DO THE FOLLOWING
2.Go to Cydia
3.Search for “ultraSnow”
4.Install, and it will automatically reboot.

AND THERE YOU GO! AN UNLOCKED IPHONE!(I know this coz i did mine yesterday:D)

Yeah Mac or Windows? I don't know Mac but if you are using Windows then all you have to do is download the 3.1.3 firmware from the internet that matches your generation (2g, 3g) (iPod Touch, iPhone) and enter iTunes with device attached. Click on your device so it directs you to the summary screen where it shows how much memory is used, what preferences, etc. Shift and left click on the button that says restore. Find the 3.1.3 firmware you downloaded, click on it, and go from there. Really simple and easy.

Sounds like you just ran a restore; In Itunes, click on your device. There should be an option on the summary screen to select from a dropdown field one of your backup sessions. If it does not show, you can right-click on the device and select restore from backup.
