We’re now just a matter of a month away from seeing Call of Duty: Ghosts’ big release, and in the build-up to the very significant date in the gaming calendar, publisher Activision dropped Call of Duty: Strike Team last month for those on iOS. Today, the title has been given a healthy update, bringing support for the all-new iPhone 5s as well as unlocking Survival Mode maps for all players. You can check all of the details, as well as the download link, right after the break.
Set a number of years from now, Strike Team is not quite as full and enriching an experience as seen on the major consoles, but having briefly played the game myself during the past couple of weeks, it’s certainly not bad for a title of this caliber. The expansion today to offer these Survival Mode maps will only but widen the title’s appeal, especially with Call of Duty: Ghosts now well and truly on the horizon, and although Grand Theft Auto 5 looks to have well and truly upstaged this year’s CoD release in every sense of the word, hardcore fans of the Activision title will still be keen to sink their teeth into the new adventure.
The fact that Survival Mode is now available to all users from the start is certainly the highlight of this particular update, but it’s not the only improvement. The title has also been optimized to take full advantage of the iPhone 5s’s new hardware, the 64-bit chip especially, and with further enhancements for the iPad mini, iPhone 4s, iPad 2, and iPod touch 5th-gen, it’s worth grabbing no matter which device you care to play it on.
Although the size of Call of Duty: Strike Team has been scaled down to take up less space on your device’s flash storage, the price remains the same, costing a cool $6.99. Still, it remains a must-buy for any respectable Call of Duty fan, and should provide ample entertainment until Ghosts finally makes its way from the other side.
