AppSync 4.0 for iOS 4.0 Jailbreak Firmware

AppSync 4.0 Now Available for iOS 4.0 Jailbroken Devices

Yes you read that right ! AppSync for iOS 4.0 (formerly iPhone OS 4) is now available for all those of you who have managed to jailbreak your iPhones and iPod touches. For those of you who don’t know, AppSync patches MobileInstallation file on iOS which is needed in order to install .ipa files manually without using iTunes.

Make sure you have jailbroken your iPhone or iPod touch on firmware 4.0 before following the steps below. Complete step-by-step guide on how to jailbreak your iPhone 3GS can be found here, or for iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G can be found here.

Step 1: Start “Cydia” on your iPhone.

Step 2: Touch on “Manage” tab on the bottom.

Step 3: Now touch on “Sources” as seen in the screenshot below:

Cydia - MobileInstallation Patch

Step 4: Touch on “Edit”, and then on “Add”. You should now be prompted to enter a url source as seen in the screenshot below. Type “http://cydia.hackulo.us” and click on“Add Source”.

Cydia will now automatically update your sources by following a series of automated steps as shown in the screenshots below:

Step 5: After installation is completed. Search for “AppSync for OS 4.0” in Cydia and install this application. This app will automatically patch mobileinstallation file on your iPhone or iPod touch running firmware 4.0.

AppSync for OS 4.0

You should now be able to install .ipa files manually on your iPhone running firmware 4.0.

Im having a lot of problems with Cydia since I jailbroke with iOS4. My sources and repos are all disappearing when I try to install 3gs video mms enabler.

Wow think about it,your on 3.1.2,this version of apysync is made for os4….some people really should do research before even thinking about jailbreaking their devices..

Hi al! I would have a question. Once installed AppSync, do I need to intall it with installous or not? I'm asking this because when I sync my .ipa files using iTunes I don't receive any errors but some app work regularly while some others get stuck after a few seconds. What could be the problem?

Appsync for OS 4.0 does not work, once installed and synced with Itunes the apps i have downloaded through install0us are removed from the Iphone.

I have an iphone 4, jailbroken on 4.0.1. I installed appsync but my applications still get removed from my iphone upon a sync. I'm running 9.2 iTunes.

Any ideas?

I had the same thing using AppSync 4.0 on ios 4.0.1 on a 32GB 3GS with new bootrom. Every time something is installed or the device is restarted, the apps disappeared, yet iTunes shown they were there in size.

I found that if I reinstall AppSync 4.0 from Cydia in Multitasking it works fine and the apps show (until the device is restarted again). If I tried to install it from Cydia using SBSettings Dock, as Cydia didn't show normally when the apps didn't show, it doesn't show the apps. The apps are there though.

No, you do not need to install appsync through installous. Your issue is probably due to the actual ipa file you got, try getting a different one and see if it still happens

Download a free app from itunes first. Then sync.

These forums ar ewierd – no-one actually answers anyone's questions! For AppSync 4.0 to work, you need to hard reset your phone after jailbreaking. AppSync should install after that.

I used the source from sinful repo, try to install the appsync 4.x from that source.
It worked for me, I am now reinstall all my cracked apps

i have the firmware 4.0, the newest version of itunes, and the appsync for OS 4.0 and i have sync apps set as ON in installous. HOWEVER, whenever i syn my ipod to itunes it automatically deletes my apps i downloaded from installous… SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME

I have 3G 4.0.1, AppSync 4.0 worked for me. Below are the steps:
Install 1 free app
install AppSync
Put a check mark next to “Sync Apps” and make sure each app you want to install has a check mark next to it.

Hi,
I successfully jailbroke my iPhone 3G previously running OS 3.1.2 firmware. First, I restored the device (iOS 4.0.2) then used redsnow and thats it. I tried it without restoring the phone, in that way it did not worked out. Now Id need AppSync obviously. I restarted the phone, then opened up “Settings” and in multitasking opened Cydia as well. Searched for AppSync for OS 4.0 and installed it with no problem. Now Ill try to install apps on the phone.. Hang on!!

Worked great! No problem at all! AppSync is working well (install one free app first from app store and there u go) Installous is working as well! Just installed it from cydia! Thank you all for the texts! Everything worked!

hey dude appsync for 4.0 work fine with iphone 3g 4.0.2 jailbroken using 4.0 with redsnow have no problem can install any cracked application. thanks to hackulo.us

Didn’t work for me… Maybe I missed something.
I have a 3GS running 4.0.1 in iTunes 9.2. I’d previously installed AppSync 4.0, so I did a hard reset, installed a free app from itunes, re-installed AppSync 4.0 from Cydia, did another hard reset, installed an app from Installous, synced with iTunes, and it removed the cracked app.
So, where did I screw up?

I got it to work!!
download the IPA files via internet or pull from Installous path var/mobile/documents/installous/downloads, then drop into itunes, then sync with itunes and they work.

It seems that device->computer is not working but computer->device works, it is a work around.

hi i have got teh 3g with io4 with the phone jailbroken iv got appysync 4 in and installous 4 butwhen i dl an app with installous and install it all’s wel then when it say done i reopen my springboard only to find no icons for the apps iv put on the phone . were am i going wrong .
