Tesla Announces Spring 2024 Software Update With New Features And More

If you’re a Tesla owner there’s a good chance that you’ll have a new Spring 2024 software update to look forward to, with some big new features on the horizon.

Tesla has revealed a software update that will come this spring and include a new interface to Model 3 and Model Y vehicles including three new main features. However, you’ll need to have a vehicle that was produced since 2022 thanks to their AMD chips.

Features include:

  • Immersive full-screen vehicle controls when parked
  • Large playback controls & quick access to Recents, Favorites & Up Next in media player
  • Expandable Autopilot driving visualizations, with a smaller map in the top right for trip guidance

Moving on to the Model S and Model X, a new Auto Shift Beta will change the way people drive their vehicles. According to the announcement, the beta feature will automatically change gear based on the surroundings.

Auto Shift (Beta) can now also shift between Drive (D) & Reverse (R) based on your surroundings, in addition to shifting out of Park (P). Vehicle settings > Pedals & Steering > Auto Shift (Beta)

Other aspects of the update include a native Audible app for audiobook listening as well as an update to the Spotify app. Finally, Tesla Model S and Model X EVs from 2021 or later as well as the upgraded Model 3 will allow people to stand behind the trunk and have it automatically open — perfect for when your hands are full of shopping.

Tesla also announced upgrades to the Cybertruck software, allowing owners to share the truck’s power with their home. There’s also support for new horn and lock sounds as well as cabin overheat protection to keep the cabin at a set temperature for 12 hours.
