At a time when the future of TikTok in the United States continues to be anything but clear, social network X has announced that it is rolling out a new vertical video feed.
The new video tab can be found in the navigation bar at the bottom of the X app but it’s only currently available to those in the United States. Tapping the new option offers a quick and easy way to access content that might otherwise find a home on TikTok.
“An immersive new home for videos is rolling out to users in the US today,” the company said in a post on Sunday. This came after TikTok was banned in the United States, albeit temporarily.
The app is once again available amid expectations that incoming president Donald Trump will sign an Executive Order that will override the ban previously instated under the Biden administration.
However, that reprieve is set to only be a temporary one although there is always the chance it could be reinstated in the future. It seems clear that X is betting on that happening and is already setting its sights on picking up the users that would need to find a new social media home should TikTok be taken off the table permanently.
Other options already exist including Instagram and YouTube Shorts, however.
