Translucency For iOS Lets You Turn Cydia Into A Pretty Looking Jailbreak App Store

The world of jailbreak tweaks can be a busy and confusing one, with so many tweaks available, it is almost impossible to keep up which is why we post weekly roundups every weekend, sharing a list of our favorite new or updated tweaks.

Sometimes there are some tweaks that we just have to share outside of that normal schedule however, and Translucency is one of those tweaks.

In fact, Translucency is a particularly interesting tweak in that it doesn’t actually alter iOS as such but rather changes the way Cydia looks during use. Cydia is of course the jailbreak app store that houses all of the best jailbreak tweaks and while there are other ways to manually install tweaks, Cydia is undoubtedly the preferred method. Unfortunately, as great as Cydia is, it is far from the prettiest app around.

Sometimes apps need to be more function over form, we get that, but a splash of color would very much not go amiss here and that is where Translucency comes in.

Once installed and configured, Translucency takes the stock Cydia interface and replaces the background with a blurred version of the user’s wallpaper. That sounds fairly simple, but in practice it can be a big change especially if a nice and bright wallpaper is in use. Don’t worry though, no matter what wallpaper you are using you should not come across one that prevents text from being readable and there are options that can be configured to ensure just the right look can be achieved.

If this tickles your fancy, and it really should, Translucency can be downloaded for free from the BigBoss repository on the Cydia jailbreak store. We think you are going to love it.
