This Tweak For iPhone Allows You To Check The Number Of SMS And iMessages Sent And Received On The Device

If you have ever been sending a text or iMessage from your jailbroken iOS device and wondered how many messages you actually have sent then the SMS Stats tweak may just be what you have been looking for. The package is extremely simple to use and allows jailbroken users to track how many messages are being sent and received through a simple and native looking interface.

The SMS Stats package is broken down into three easy to use sections that are displayed through a tab bar interface on the device. The General section of the tweak shows statistics relating to text and iMessages over the lifetime of the device. Users can quickly interact with the section to see the total number of messages sent and received and have it further broken down by type of message. The General section also shows the name and number of the contact that the user sends the most messages to and displays the stats for that person.

The Last Month section of SMS Stats is actually pretty handy for those who may have a finite amount of text messages allowed as part of a monthly tariff. The same information is provided but is restricted to the last calendar month of messages sent and received so users can get a good gauge of their monthly messaging habits. Tapping and holding on any particular cell will allow the user to copy the contents incase it needs to be emailed or text to someone for reference.

SMSStats2

The final section of the app allows contacts to be added to a Friends list. When selected and added from the device’s address book, the user can drill-down into each contact and see the messaging history on a per contact basis. All of the expected information is provided such as the number of messages sent and received and have it broken down into SMS or iMessage types.

SMS Stats is a fairly decent and very simple to use package that allows tracking of messages. The only real issue that it seems to have is that it doesn’t seem to update when invoked from the multi-tasking switcher. The app needs to be killed and launched again. Other than that, as a free of charge download it’s definitely worth checking out.

SMS Stats is available as a free of charge download from the BigBoss repository and requires iOS 5 or above.
