The First Lightning-Powered Dual-Pad Qi Wireless Charger Is Here

Qi-compatible wireless charging stands and pads have been around for an eternity. With that said, Apple’s support for the standard with iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X has shone a new light on those supporting products, with LXORY being the latest company to get involved in that particular market, but with a difference; a Qi-compatible wireless charging dual-pad which accepts Apple’s Lightning input for power.

Yes, that’s right, in a market dominated by pads and stands which accept USB-C, Micro USB, or some other weird and wonderful proprietary input, the LXORY offering is the first to hit the market which conforms to Apple’s Lightning standard and accepts a Lightning cable to transfer power from source to device.

This may not seem like anything particularly earth-shattering. After all, it’s a wireless charger and all you’re going to do is place your device on it, right? That may be true but there are plenty of iOS device owners who regularly switch between wired and wireless, which means there is now one single cable to do that with this charger.

Also, because of it being Qi-compatible, it also offers optional inputs for Micro USB and USB-C because not everyone is going to be purchasing this to wirelessly charge an iPhone X or iPhone 8, so it stands to reason that not everyone is going to have an Apple Lightning cable lying around in order to get power into this accessory.

The offering of multiple inputs means that this is truly a diverse new charging accessory which has been designed to immediately suit the needs of a whole range of potential consumers with varying device types.

Since this accessory outputs 5W, it means that there is not going to be any fast wireless charging at 7.5W or 9W happening here. Also, the Lightning input for the device hasn’t been certified by Apple’s MFi Program, which isn’t the end of the world but could be enough to make some people shy away from that purpose. That said, there is a USB-A output present as well for charging an additional third device.

Still, for an agreeable $28.60, you are going to get a very attractive, sleek and stylish piece of kit which offers dual-charging wireless and wired capabilities.
