Tesla Is Again Working On A Cheaper EV With A Cybertruck-Like Design

Before Tesla released the Model 3 EV it was supposed to be a cheaper option for those who couldn’t swing the money needed to drive a Model S or a Model X. That didn’t quite work out, but Musk is apparently set to have another try.

The Model 3 was supposed to start at $35,000 but it ultimately launched at around $52,000 and even today starts at more than $40,000.

But Musk now wants to have another try at the cheaper EV market and this time he wants to hit $25,000, says Axios.

Elon Musk was so obsessed with robotaxis that he repeatedly vetoed his own plan to build a $25,000 electric car in favor of them — until skeptical Tesla executives persuaded him to hedge his bet, Musk biographer Walter Isaacson tells Axios.

The report goes on to say that the new $25,000 that is currently being designed has a futuristic look, one that is said to have a more angular aesthetic similar to that of the Cybertruck.

It isn’t yet clear when this EV will ship, or if it actually will. Nor do we know for certain that it will hit that $25,000 price point. But for those who want to get into a Tesla without spending the money that it would normally take to do so, the prospect is sure to be an enticing one.
