Ever since smartphones began earning their stripes as very adept and convenient Wi-Fi hotspots, companies and carriers have been looking for ways to halt the trend - or at the very least, charge more.
Shortly ago, iOS 5 Beta 4 was released to Apple developers. Those who have installed it are probably wondering how easy it will be to jailbreak the new system. It turns out you can do it the same way you'd do with all previous builds of iOS 5, using the just released version of Redsn0w.
Just recently, we have reported that the first beta of iOS had been successfully jailbroken. Now, Redsn0w, one of the most well-known jailbroken tools by the iPhone Dev-Team, has been updated (for Mac only) to work with iOS 5. As of yet, only tethered jailbreak is possible, meaning that you have to connect the device to a computer when powering it on, in order to boot it into a jailbroken state.
The iPhone Dev-Team has released Redsn0w 0.9.6rc7 to help you boot your tethered jailbroken iPhone, iPad or iPod touch quickly, bypassing some of the screen that you will normally see when using Redsn0w for iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak.
iTunes 9.1, which was released a few hours ago caused syncing issues for many users (specially on Windows), who were jailbroken on iPhone 3.1.2 (tethered) using blackra1n. But now thanks to ih8sn0w, this issue can now be fixed by using BlackBreeze.
ToolJail has been just updated to version 1.3.2. This new version is only a minor upgrade, with updates to guides, and links to new versions of jailbreaking tools like Sn0wbreeze. For those of you who don't know, ToolJail (like f0recast) is designed to help iPhone newbie’s to jailbreak and unlock their iPhone and iPod touch. It contains all the necessary jailbreak and unlock instructions, along with how-to’s on DFU and Recovery Mode, downgrading firmware, and direct download links for all the necessary tools required.
