Android users and mobile enthusiasts alike have likely been aware of the Samsung Hercules, a mysterious new Android-based handset that was first revealed back in May. While neither Samsung nor T-Mobile have commented on it, leaked pictures now indicate that this phone will actually be a slight variant of the best-selling Samsung Galaxy S II.

Samsung’s Galaxy S II smartphone will soon be available in a white version, Redmond Pie has learned. The Galaxy S II was announced back in February at Mobile World Congress and was released in May to select countries. It is one of, if not, the most well-received Android smartphone to date. Critics have been lauding it for the outstanding experience that it offers on its glorious 4.3” Super AMOLED Plus display with its dual-core 1.2GHz processor and 1GB RAM.
According to an analyst, Samsung might have surpassed Apple in smartphone sales this past quarter as Android becomes more accepted among customers. While no exact numbers are known yet, such an achievement would be a victory for Samsung, Google and Android enthusiasts alike.
A new chapter in the recent patent merry-go-round sees Apple attempting to get sales of HTC's smartphones blocked, writes Bloomberg. The move comes after Apple claimed HTC is infringing upon five of its patents,ranging from movement sensors, to hardware for LCD touch screens.

Earlier this month, Samsung filed a court order requesting to look at Apple's next-generation devices in order to look for close similarities between them and Samsung Galaxy devices. According to a report from Japanese market analysis firm Nomura, Samsung is set to overtake Nokia as the world’s largest smartphone maker this quarter. Not only that, Apple, with the iPhone as its one and only smartphone, is set to overtake Nokia in the next quarter; ending Nokia’s 14 year old reign at the top.
J.K. Shin, President of the Mobile Communications division at Samsung, has unveiled plans to release a new Galaxy Tab tablet by the last quarter of this year and a new Galaxy S smartphone early next year.
