iPhone 6 May Launch Sooner Than Expected, According To One Analyst

Oliver Haslam·February 27, 2014
Even in the midst of Mobile World Congress, Apple has managed to end up grabbing headlines after an analyst claimed that the company's iPhone 6 will be available sooner than expected. In fact, according to Mizuho Securities analyst Abhey Lamba, the highly anticipated new iPhone could be on stores as early as July, months before the usual September release timeframe that Apple has used in the past.

Apple’s Phablet To Reportedly Use Sapphire Glass, Won’t Use ‘iPhone’ Branding

Ben Reid·February 19, 2014
It has become apparent over the past few weeks that Apple could be planning two new iPhones later on this year as opposed to the customary one, and while the smaller of these two handsets will offer a reasonably bumped 4.7-ish-inch display, rumor has it that the higher-end 'phablet' variant will boast a ~5.5-inch panel. Adding fuel to the fire, a new report out of Taiwan suggests that the larger handset will utilize sapphire-glass, while its down-sized counterpart will continue on the Gorilla Glass trail. Speculatively, the report also makes the suggestion that the "experimental" larger device will drop the 'iPhone' branding, although such a move would seem very, very unlikely.

iPhone 6 Will Reportedly Feature A ‘Bezel-Free’ Display

Ben Reid·February 12, 2014
The iPhone 6 has been a hot topic of discussion during the opening stages of this year, and from what we've heard so far, the Cupertino company could be planning to release two versions of the upcoming handset. We're expecting one model of around 4.7 inches, and another, similarly-equipped handset of around 5.5 inches, and both will, according to reports, look very much identical. Now, it has emerged that Apple may be opting for a "bezel-free" display, which would not only look great, but maximize display real-estate without adding too much by way of bulk.

Last year, Apple took the unprecedented step of releasing two new iPhones simultaneously, introducing both the flagship iPhone 5s and the colorful, cheaper iPhone 5c. But according to numerous reports, the Cupertino company has similar plans for this year, and is supposedly preparing device with a slight display increase on what we've seen hitherto, as well as a further model sporting a larger, 5-inch+ panel for a great deal more real estate. Latching onto this, designer Federico Ciccarese, whose incredible talents have been featured on many occasions here at Redmond Pie in the past, has dreamed up yet another beautiful set of renders for the two upcoming handsets. Prepare to be wowed after the break!

New Report Says iPhone 6 Will Pack 10MP Camera With F/1.8 Aperture, Better Filter And More

Ben Reid·February 4, 2014
When it comes to rumors pertaining a new iPhone, we seldom pay more than fleeting attention to what kind of camera updates may be in the pipeline. This is mainly because through the generations, the iPhone camera always gets better, and in many respects, this fact is taken for granted. The iPhone 5s was very much in-keeping with tradition thanks to its dual-LED flash and faster aperture - amid other enhancements - and now, we're hearing that the rear snapper of the iPhone 6 will benefit from similarly great gains, including improved filter and sensor of at least 10-megapixels.

Ben Reid·January 24, 2014
With every new report on Apple's future smartphone movements, the likelihood that we'll be seeing at least one handset with a considerably larger display than the iPhone 5s's 4-inch effort has seemed stronger. Some reputable publications have even suggested that the fruit company may be planning two, and now, The Wall Street Journal has waded in to corroborate this notion. One of the devices will apparently offer a display in excess of the 4.5-inch mark, while the second handset will exceed the 5-inch mark, equating to a significant leap from the current flagship.

Being the raging tech fans that we are, particularly when it comes to new and exciting gadgetry, it should come as very little surprise that talk has already progressed with regards to the next iPhone. Depending on what's being said and who's saying it, Apple could be planning another two-pronged assault on the smartphone market, and although the iPhone 5c and 5s represented the first dual release since the iPhone's inception, it's fair to say that we could be in for a couple of even more exciting treats this time around. We spoke earlier of the possibility of a 5.5-inch and 4.7-inch model, and although the report was based on some loose estimations, once concept maker has already come through with some intriguing renders of a 4.7-inch iPhone 6. Check it out in all of its glory after the break!

iPhone 6 Might Retain 8MP Camera; Will Feature Better OIS And Autofocus

Oliver Haslam·January 12, 2014
Apple's approach to the cameras that it puts in its iPhones has always been rather different to some of its competitors. Nokia likes to throw as many pixels at its cameras as it can, and Samsung tends to follow a similar theme with the cameras that it puts in its Android smartphones. Apple, instead, likes to stick with its 8-megapixel shooter but to tweak it, adding features in both hardware and software that will make it shine when it counts; in the photos you take.

Ben Reid·January 9, 2014
The iPhone 5s may have been on the market for less than three months, but as we've come to expect with twelve month release cycles, talk of its eventual successor is already more than under way. We've heard a bunch of stories through the grapevine hitherto, including talk of at least one model with a larger display, and today, CTech has posted what it claims to be the frame of such a device.
