iPhone 5 Launches In Additional 22 Countries And Regional Carriers Starting Today

Ben Reid·September 28, 2012
Having launched in the United States, United Kingdom and several other key areas last Friday, Apple has today further added 22 more countries to the roster, starting today where the new Apple flagship smartphone will land. Apple smashed first-weekend sales for any smartphone release by shifting in excess of an incredible 5 million units, and with the furor surrounding iOS 6 and Apple's own Maps offering, it'll be intriguing to see whether consumers who've had an additional weeks' wait will have been deterred.

Nokia Lumia 920 Low-Light Camera Performance Compared With iPhone 5, Galaxy S III, HTC One X, 808 PureView

Awais Imran·September 28, 2012
Nokia’s Lumia 920 scored a lot of negative press from the technology blogosphere when it was discovered that the demo videos and photos they had shown at their announcement event were actually taken using professional DSLR cameras to “simulate” the smartphone’s advanced optical features.

Camera Test (Low-Light And Natural Light): iPhone 5 vs Galaxy S III [IMAGES]

Ben Reid·September 27, 2012
Whether you're an Android fan or iOS lover (or somewhere in between - I've heard it's possible to like both), there's no denying the iPhone 5 from Apple and Samsung Galaxy S III are the two biggest smartphones right now. Both have sold in multiple millions, and although they've been compared in many key areas in benchmark tests, drop tests, and various other one-on-one scenarios, the performance of the new iPhone's camera has yet to be properly scrutinized, at least not versus its fiercest competitor.

New Benchmark Shows iPhone 5 Processor Clocked At 1.3GHz, Faster Than Previously Reported

Awais Imran·September 27, 2012
If you thought that the iPhone 5 was fast with its 1.02GHz dual-core A6 chip, wait till you hear this! According to the very latest reports, the processor has a much higher clock speed (than previously reported) that further pushes it ahead in benchmarks.

The iPhone 4 / 4S’ design was always hailed as being among the best-looking in the smartphone market, but because of the glass front / back design, it wasn’t all that durable; people I know have had their device’s glass completely shattered from innocent 3-4ft drops. Samsung’s Galaxy S series of smartphones, on the other hand, were always plasticky but a whole lot more durable. This was the case for the years 2010-2011.

Ben Reid·September 26, 2012
There's little doubt the new Lightning dock connector for iOS devices is a step in the right direction. It's much more compact than its 30-pin predecessor, which saves room within the device for more pressing hardware like the new A6 processor, and also, it's reversible, meaning no more irritating jams and unnecessary damage when attempting to plug in the wrong way.

iPhone 5 User Guide Now Available On iBookstore

Ben Reid·September 25, 2012
The iPhone 5 arrived last Friday, and already in excess of five million consumers have snapped the device up, but contrary to how most electronic gadget vendors handle things, the full user guide wasn't packaged with the smartphone, but released online some hours later along with a user guide for those diving into iOS 6.

DisplayMate: iPhone 5 Display Is Better Than “Any Consumer Display” You Own, Beats Galaxy S III

Awais Imran·September 25, 2012
From its internal hardware, software to its design, and camera, we’ve covered just about every possible aspect of the iPhone 5 here at Redmond Pie. One aspect that hasn’t been covered in more technical detail is its display. We know that it’s 4-inch tall, has a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, a resolution of 1136 x 640 and a corresponding pixel density of 326 pixels per inch, but we weren’t sure just how much of an improvement it is when it comes down to visual quality and fidelity, until now that is.

The iPhone 5, which you couldn't possibly have missed coverage of since it's been discussed and nauseam by geeks and non-techies alike, is actually Apple's sixth-generation smartphone, despite being handed the "5" moniker. In 2007, Apple introduced the original iPhone, then the iPhone 3G arrived, and a while later, Apple introduced the 3GS - a much faster, slicker experience than both of its predecessors. The iPhone 4 brought a radical new design and Retina display to a table now crowded by ravenous iFans, and the iPhone 4S cuts a more vivid picture, having been introduced only eleven months ago.

A Detailed Overview Of The Smartphone Market After iPhone 5 Launch [INFOGRAPHIC]

Awais Imran·September 24, 2012
The smartphone market is among the largest and fastest growing markets in the world of consumer electronics. It is currently dominated by the iPhone and Android smartphones, with BlackBerry and Windows Phone at a distant 3rd and 4th position. Now that Apple has released the iPhone 5, arguably the biggest smartphone of the year with 5 million units sold in the opening weekend, it’s time to take a look at the smartphone market and, more importantly, involved consumers.
