iOS 7 – What Do We Need To See This Year?

Oliver Haslam·April 15, 2013
It's as much of a yearly tradition as the iPhone release itself, and some would say it's even more fun. That's right folks, it's that time of year when we all start guessing what Apple will do with the next big release of iOS. This year's version number of choice is 7.0, and plenty of people are taking the opportunity to lay out just what they want out of Apple's next big release of iOS.

New iOS 7 Concept Brings Significantly More Animation To The Fold [VIDEO]

Ben Reid·April 13, 2013
I cannot recall seeing a wider variety of concept ideas for a piece of software than I have recently for iOS 7, and with the tech community anticipating some big changes thanks to the increased influence of one Jony Ive, it's hardly surprising to see designers tripping over themselves to bring forth their ideas and coming up with all sorts of iOS 7 concepts. One in particular from YouTuber iamthe6ixth offers a somewhat alternative take on the vast majority of those we've looked at hitherto, and instead of playing on the idea of a dramatically altered user interface, this concept presents changes pertaining to the functionality and behavior of iOS.

Gorgeous New iOS 7 Concept Offers Radical Changes To The Look And Feel Of iOS [VIDEO]

With Jony Ive offering his very highly-regarded input to the next major iOS release, many Apple enthusiasts are expecting some significant improvements when the company's mobile software does get its big update later on this year. We've already been treated to a deluge of iOS 7 concepts and ideas by numerous designers from across the globe, and adding to this list comes an interesting video / image set alluding to iOS 7 from a designer under the Flickr handle F.Bianco.

iOS 7 To See Significant UI Overhaul, Is Running Behind Schedule

Oliver Haslam·April 3, 2013
New releases of Apple’s iOS always cause a stir, but with the removal of Scott Forstall and addition of Jonny Ive to the iOS fold, the next big release of the iPhone and iPad operating system is eagerly anticipated by many. Will iOS 7 look and feel very much like the current release, or will Apple take the opportunity to shake things up a little?

WSJ: Jony Ive’s Influence To See A More ‘Flat Design’ With iOS 7

Ben Reid·March 22, 2013
Back in October, iOS leader Scott Forstall was, along retail SVP John Browett, removed from Apple. It was a surprising decision, even after the nightmare iOS 6 Maps issue, but it quickly emerged that Forstall, in particular, had stepped on more than a few toes within the Cupertino executive ranks. Jony Ive, head of Industrial Design and credited with molding the vast majority of the company's recent success stories, was said to strongly disagree with Forstall's rampant skeuomorphism within the iOS UI, and since the Englishman has taken on the role as leader of Human Interface following Forstall's departure, it now looks as though he plans to remove all remnants of the former iOS Senior Vice President.

This iOS 7 Concept Offers A Radically New UI Partly Inspired By Windows Phone [VIDEO]

Mobile users, even many of those with an affinity to Apple's iOS, seem in agreement that the look and feel of the fruit company's flagship operating system is in severe need of updating. With a new leader at the helm of iOS in the form of Jony Ive, there's fresh optimism that iOS 7 will break the mold and bring the radical changes and implementations so many users seem to crave. As such, we've also seen many iOS 7 concepts since iOS SVP Scott Forstall was given his marching orders toward the end of last year, and this latest one from designer Mohamed Kerroudj is one of the best to date.

This Concept Shows How iOS 7 Weather App Would Look If Android-ified

Ben Reid·March 8, 2013
German designer Philipp Tusch has come up with an interesting concept idea for iOS 7's weather app, which takes the look and feel of Android's offering and brings it straight to the iPhone. Not only does it look clean and crisp, but it is a vast improvement on the dull, monotonous, dated-looking native Weather app which currently graces every iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

Oliver Haslam·January 23, 2013
Everyone loves a good iOS concept, and even though iOS 7 is still a fair distance away, that hasn't stopped the next update from being the subject of one or two concepts already. How can Apple improve upon its iOS mobile operating system? Apple may argue it doesn't need to.

iOS 7 Concept: Cleaner Interface, Better Notifications, Social Hub And More [VIDEOS]

Ben Reid·January 2, 2013
Apple's iOS mobile operating system is revered in the mobile industry, and there's little doubting its reputation as one of the smoothest out there. With that said, long-time iOS users have noticed progress stagnate over the past few iterations, and with the sixth edition releasing last September, it just felt like more of the same. With Jony Ive now at the helm, the iPhone and iPad community have high hopes, and some have already thrown some ideas of their own into the mix. YouTuber BlogB13 is one such individual, and has quite wonderfully recreated key elements of iOS, including revamped Notifications, Social Hub and an all-new multitasking concept.

iOS 7 And New iPhone Reportedly Makes An Appearance In Developer Logs

Ben Reid·January 1, 2013
The iPhone 5 and iOS 6 may only be three months old, but as we know, companies tend to get straight to work on the successor to any new release. So it should come as no surprise, then, to learn that developers have spotted signs of a handset named ‘iPhone6,1′ running on iOS 7, and according to the developers whom spotted the activity, this is the first time the new iPhone has shown any trace of existence.
