We have just been tipped off about the possible name for the next jailbreak by Geohot, called Rubyra1n. The domain Rubyra1n.com was registered by the iPhone hacker named George Hotz (aka geohot) on 27th March 2010.
One of the most annoying limitation of iOS 4.2’s AirPlay feature is the inability to stream videos that you took on your iPhone to your PC or Mac with iTunes via AirPlay, or to the Television sets connected to the 2nd-gen Apple TV.
Apple has just released the very final version of iOS 4.2.1 for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, iPad and iPod touches. Alright guys, here is a quick heads up! Apple has seeded iOS 4.2.1 GM to developers hinting towards the fact that final version will see the light of day soon. If you’re one of those who are currently relying on a jailbreak or a carrier unlock then we highly recommend that you avoid updating to iOS 4.2.1.
The final version of iOS 4.2 was originally scheduled to drop sometime this week. We then heard about reports of it being released on Friday (Tomorrow), with iTunes 10.1 and Mac OS X 10.6.5 on this past Wednesday. While OS X 10.6.5 did drop on time, iTunes 10.1 didn’t.
Mac OS X 10.6.5 was supposed to bring AirPrint support for any printer connected to a Mac. Reportedly, Apple has removed AirPrint support from OS X in the final release of 10.6.5 due to some last minute patent issues.
iOS 4.2, at least from what information we have so far, is slated for release this Friday and it’s going to be a significant update for iPad (not so much for iPhone / iPod touch, though). And of course, there’s going to be a jailbreak to accompany the new iOS version. Here’s all you need to know.
Apple enthusiast site 9to5Mac is reporting that the new iOS 4.2 for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch will be publicly available sometime between 9 - 12 of November 2010. They have received conflicting reports from two German based websites who are claiming to have received this information individually.
