Ben Reid·December 6, 2012
With every new revision of iOS, the firmware modding folk are always waiting to pounce, sourcing ways we can potentially jailbreak, unlock and downgrade our devices. With the release of iOS 6.0.1, the mindset is no different, and while there's real big news on the jailbreaking front, those of you wishing to revert from the latest iOS 6.0.1 back to iOS 5.1.1 can do so with relative ease.

Downgrade iOS 6 To 5.1.1 On A4 iOS Devices Using Redsn0w

Paul Morris·September 30, 2012
Apple is pretty adamant that once a user opts to upgrade, they don't want them to be able to roll-back the software on their device to a previous version of iOS. In a lot of circumstances, this wouldn't be an issue, but there are a number of legitimate reasons for users wanting to downgrade to an older version, in this case, from iOS 6 to iOS 5.1.1.

You Will Soon Be Able To Downgrade iPhone 3GS / 3G 06.15.00 Baseband To 05.13.04 With Working Unlock+GPS

Upcoming Redsn0w Update Will Support Downgrading Of iPhone 4S, iPad 2, iPad (3rd Gen), Restore Without iTunes

Ben Reid·May 9, 2012
With Apple having released iOS 5.1.1 to the end-user in the last couple of days, the various dev teams have been hard at work in updating their respective jailbreak tools to recognize the latest iteration of the Cupertino's mobile OS. None have been more dogmatic in their approach than the iPhone Dev Team, and as per MuscleNerd via Twitter, the latest version of Redsn0w will include downgrade capabilities for the very newest additions to the iDevice roster.
