Last week, Verizon sent out invites for their press event which is going to be held in the New York City tomorrow. WSJ has just announced that “a person familiar with the matter” (Presumably the same person, who confirmed this event would be iPhone related) claims that Verizon will be offering unlimited data plan to iPhone users.
Founder of Digg, Kevin Rose, has jumped on to the rumor mill surrounding the next-generation iPad. A source close to him who has “good authority” claims that the iPad 2 will be announced in next 3 to 4 weeks, possibly on February 1st, and that it will feature higher DPI display and front/back cameras.
The very-recently launched Mac App Store has been cracked open for piracy already, reports Gizmodo. The cracked App Store though, dubbed kickback, wont be available before February 2011, according to the Hackulous member Dissident.
AT&T has just announced a huge price drop for iPhone 3GS. The predecessor to iPhone 4 which was selling for $99 will now cost only $49, starting from this Friday, January 7, 2011.
Apple has just released the final version of Mac OS X 10.6.6 Snow Leopard. It is a recommended update and it implements hundreds of fixes since the last few updates, 10.6.5 (November 2010), 10.6.4 (June 2010), 10.6.3 (March 2010) and 10.6.2 (November 2009). A firm called GlobalDirectParts claims to have the parts of the next generation iPhone. They have uploaded a detailed video showcasing the parts of the next iPhone, which they are referring in the video as the iPhone 5.
A Mockup for iPad 2 has been spotted at CES inside an iPad 2 case which shows slimmer design and dual cameras, one on the front for FaceTime calls, and one on the back for taking snaps.
Few days ago BusinessWeek reported that Apple will announce the Verizon iPhone shortly after CES. And now there is even more proof of a Verizon iPhone coming soon.
Redsn0w 0.9.7 beta has been updated today, eliminating the need of externally running usbmuxd process which plagued many Mac OS X users. Everything else remains the same. Bluetooth functionality is still disabled.
AT&T has been exclusively holding the iPhone for three years now, and it looks as if it’s finally going to come to an end soon. Apple is expected to announce the Verizon iPhone in early 2011. BusinessWeek reports that the announcement may not take place at CES 2011, but shortly afterwards, either by or before Valentines Day i.e. February 14th.
