We probably all expected that a lot of individuals would be receiving some type of 7 or 10-inch tablet as their main festive gift this year, but there has been a lot of talk about whether or not the iPad would continue to reign as the most popular tablet or whether the competition would gather traction in the market as part of the Christmas shopping rush. It may not go down in history as one of the most scientific polls ever, but a collection of 'first tweets' gathered from Twitter show that the iPad remains the most popular tablet out there - at least for those who have a Twitter account and took the time to send out a tweet announcing their device.

As part of the plan to bring the full-sized 9.7-inch iPad in line with the recently released iPad mini, Apple is reportedly planning to announce and release the fifth-generation of their popular tablet in March of 2013. The speculated release date is notable due to the fact that it would come only five months after the current model iPad was introduced, and would effectively mean that the Cupertino based company will have launched the third, fourth and fifth-generation models in one twelve month cycle.

I think we all understand the emotive human desire to spend the holiday season with our loved ones and the people that are closest to us but unfortunately it isn't always possible to share the festive season in person with those who matter most. Depending on which source you read, his net worth was said to have been in the region of seven billion dollars. Yet, the former CEO of the world's valuable company was never renowned for living lavishly. At keynote speeches, a bespectacled Jobs was seen in Levi Strauss 501 jeans, a polo neck, and New Balance trainers, so it may come as something of a surprise that he commissioned the building of a yacht in Amsterdam. As reported by Reuters today however, said yacht Steve Jobs has now been impounded in the Dutch capital, with designer Philippe Starck claiming he has not been paid all of his dues.

Although some say that Apple’s home-brewed Maps app was rushed out and should never have passed through testing, the Cupertino based company should be applauded for holding their hands up, admitting their mistakes and doing what is necessary to put the software right for the millions of users around the world. If the recent Wall Street Journal report is to be believed, then it looks like part of that rectification process could hinge on striking a deal with Foursquare to include the company's extensive mapping data in the Maps app.
