Amazon today made quite the leap in its war with Netflix after beginning to allow both iOS and Android users to download movies and TV shows to their devices for offline viewing. Before today, streaming was the only way to enjoy content via Amazon Prime.
Amazon will be turning 20 on the 15th of July, and in celebration of its anniversary, will be observing a sale day which is supposed to be bigger than Black Friday. Dubbed "Prime Day", the retail giant is already teasing us with a taste of things to come at its one-day-only super saver deals.
For 24 hours only, new customers in the United States can buy Amazon Prime for just $72 - that's quite the reduction on the normal price of $99. More details on the whole deal can be found right here after the jump.
If you have the opinion that there aren’t enough monthly subscription based media streaming services available, then Amazon has listened to those concerns in an attempt to compete with other services on the market by making their Amazon Prime service available on a subscription basis. Amazon had previously offered the Prime service at a $79 per year price point, but are in the early stages of testing out a more relaxed monthly offering that comes in line with the likes of Hulu and Netflix.
