Amazon Discounts Prime Membership To Just $67 For One Day Only

To celebrate its five Emmy awards for original series “Transparent,” Amazon is offering a considerable discount on a year’s subscription to Amazon Prime, allowing customers to not only access its online video and music streaming services, but to also receive faster shipping on orders from amazon.com.

The reduced Amazon Prime will cost new customers just $67 for the year, down a third on the usual price of $99. The downside is that the sale will only be live for one day, starting Friday, September 25 at 12:00 a.m. ET and ending at 11:59 p.m. PT. Those wishing to take advantage of the offer can do so during that time and by visiting the Amazon Prime sign-up portion of the Amazon website.

Transparent is a comedy that tells the story of a man who then becomes a woman, following how that affects her family. Star Jeffrey Tambor won an Emmy for outstanding lead actor in the series, while creator Jill Soloway also won an award for directing the show. On top of that, the show itself won three Creative Arts Emmys to add to the collection.

The success of Transparent shows once again how online streaming services are starting to become strong influences on an industry which has been dominated by cable networks until now. With Amazon Prime and Netflix both now creating some top notch shows such as Orange Is the New Black and Narcos, some of our favorite shows are no longer from the likes of HBO, but instead come straight from companies lile Netflix and Amazon Prime. The latter has recently agreed to take on the former Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond in a deal said to be costing a huge sum of money. Money that is likely to be well spent when translated into subscriber numbers.
