Super Sketchy Rumor: Apple To Launch Nintendo Switch-Like Console

Apple is reportedly working on building its own Nintendo Switch-like handheld gaming console. But that report comes via MacRumors and a decidedly sketchy Korean forum, shared by Twitter user @FrontTron.

According to the post, Apple is developing its own portable hybrid gaming console akin to the Nintendo Switch. Details are extremely scarce, to say the very least.

It seems that the AP is being prepared with a new model name, not the Apple A-series or M-series.

It features enhanced GPU performance and ray tracing support.

And it is rumored that the game is currently being negotiated with Ubisoft among famous developers.

The idea of Apple working with Ubisoft is perhaps the most likely part of the story. Apple already has relationships with multiple game companies relating to games that are already available in the App Store, including Ubisoft. Any console like this would also presumably lean heavily on Apple Arcade, too.

Right here, right now, it’s almost impossible to put any great faith in this report given the information shared. Some mainstream media outlets have picked it up, however, so we’re covering it just to make everyone aware of its sketchy origins.

Unless Apple announces something during WWDC next month. In that case, this post never happened!
