Although celebrities, by and large, tend to endorse products at will for a check, it's a bit of a running joke that despite their paid affiliations, famous individuals have something of an affinity to devices bearing Apple's famous logo. The Cupertino's recent acquisition of Beats Electronics may have made sense from a business point of view, but it's no coincidence that many celebrities have been spotted wearing Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine's iconic brand, and while football / soccer players can regularly be seen with a pair of Beats around their necks, FIFA's deal with Sony will pay heed to this throughout the current World Cup.
According to reports, Apple's elusive "iWatch" device will be packed to the gills with sensors as the company goes for the jugular of competitors like Sony, Samsung and Pebble. But now we're hearing that the wearable won't be the only Apple device abundant with sensors, with the iPhone 6 apparently set to contain a barometer / air pressure sensors for accurate readings of weather conditions and altitude.
Amazon has finally taken the wraps off its very first smartphone, which unsurprisingly, the online retail giant has decided to call the Fire Phone. But what makes this device so special, and why would we, the consumer, pick Amazon's inaugural handset over the many alternatives out there? Today's special event has run through a bunch of great features and quirks attached to the Fire Phone, and you'll find a full run-down after the fold.
Microsoft may finally have broadened its horizons and brought its famed Office suite to the likes of iOS and Android, but many lesser-known productivity apps have well and truly established themselves over the past few years. Today, one of the more poplar Office alternatives for iPhone and iPad just went completely free, and besides offering a jaw-dropping $14.99 saving, this may well be the only office-like tool you'll ever need to pick up from the iTunes Store.
We've been seeing images of what are claimed to be the two new iPhone 6 models for a while now, and some have even cropped up in videos. What has been severely lacking though, until now, is a video comparing both the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 to existing devices made by other manufacturers. YouTube channel TechSmartt has now changed that by publishing a seven-minute video in which we see the unannounced iPhones compared to other iOS products as well as, most interestingly, a Galaxy Note 3.
Although WWDC 2014 didn’t see any new hardware announcements, it doesn’t mean that the company hadn’t been working on anything. Just today, the Cupertino tech giant has taken the veil off a new entry-level iMac that will make the world’s leading all-in-one computing solution more affordable for the masses, and we will tell you all about it right after the break.
In our continued quest to source all of the new features and quirks hidden within the depths of iOS 8 and OS X 10.10 Yosemite, many discoveries have been made over the past couple of weeks since the grand unveiling of Apple's new software pairing at WWDC, and it's fair to say that whilst some have been very encouraging, not all news has been good. Now, it would appear that the second-gen Apple TV is about to join the iPhone 4 on the list of devices missing out on further software updates, thanks to clues concealed within today's software bump.
Apple has just released the second beta of iOS 8, and here, we run through some of the key changes and alterations that the fruit company has made with this release.
Apple is notoriously secretive when it comes to preparing for a major product launch, but despite the company's best efforts, we've an ever-growing dossier of information on what's next out of the smartphone department at Cupertino HQ. New snaps have emerged showing more mockups of the Space Gray variant of the "iPhone 6" in all of its glory, with one comparing the handset to both the current flagship iPhone 5s and the HTC One (M8).
Following on from the successful roll-out with last year's iPhone 5s, it is strongly suspected that Apple will add the Touch ID fingerprint sensor to both the next-gen iPad Air and iPad mini. A couple of new images out of Asia, said to showcase a prototype of the iPad Air 2, corroborate the notion of Touch ID debuting on the company's famed tablet, and although we cannot vouch for the legitimacy of the source, these snaps align nicely with what we've been hearing just lately.
