Meta Is Finally Working On An Instagram iPad App, Insider Claims

After years and years of people crying out for it, a new report claims that Meta is finally working on a new Instagram app for the iPad.

This report comes via The Information, which cites an Instagram employee as claiming that the company is keen to take advantage of the uncertainty surrounding TikTok’s future in the United States by making an iPad app available for download.

The lack of an iPad version of Instagram has been an issue since the social network launched in 2010, the same year that Apple also launched the original iPad. Since then, iPad users have had to make do with the blown-up iPhone app when using their tablets, something that has made the often gorgeous Instagram posts look less than great.

Now, it seems that there is a future where Instagram will offer a proper iPad app, although details are hard to come by. We don’t know when it will launch, and there is still time for Instagram to decide against launching the app at all.

This isn’t the first time that there has been talk of an Instagram iPad app being in the works, but it has ultimately been deemed unnecessary by the people at the top of the company.

Instagram head Adam Mosseri said previously that the iPad app wouldn’t be used by enough people to warrant making a dedicated app for the platform.
