iPhone X Vs $3000 Panasonic GH5 Professional Mirrorless Camera [Video Comparison]
Check out the full iPhone X Vs $3000 Panasonic GH5 professional mirrorless camera video quality comparison.
Apple’s iPhone has historically had a camera that owners can count on, whether they are taking still photos or video, and the iPhone X is no different. The inclusion of a new, faster f2.4 aperture telephoto lens to the iPhone X has certainly aided the camera’s abilities, and with dual-optical image stabilization, video is well taken care of. Support for 4K at 60fps (the only smartphone in the market alongside iPhone 8/8 Plus with that capability), and slow-mo video in 1080p at 240fps is included, for example.
While we already knew that the iPhone X camera was impressive, it always bides well when the pros agree. Photography blog Fstoppers took an iPhone X and compared it to professional mirrorless camera, the Panasonic GH5 to see how well Apple’s new flagship can compete.
If you think that the iPhone X’s $999 asking price is steep, the GH5 is a 20 megapixel camera retailing at around ~$3,000 with a lens. At that price, and given the Panasonic’s sole focus on being a camera, you may be forgiven for thinking that the results of the comparison would be a foregone conclusion. As it turns out, the iPhone X held its own throughout the testing.
With the iPhone X able to compete with the Panasonic camera throughout testing, it was even able to improve upon the GH5’s color vibrancy and contrast across a range of environments. However, as is to be expected, the GH5 did put the iPhone in its place in terms of video stabilization and low-light capabilities.
That being said, the conclusion has to be that the iPhone X is more than a capable shooter, and with Apple keen to continue its “Shot on iPhone” campaign, it is good to know that the pros do not find any glaring issues with its performance.
