iPhone 16 Pro Could Get WiFi 7 And An Improved Ultra Wide Camera

Apple’s iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro are the big deal right now and we expect them to arrive soon, but the iPhone 16 Pro will likely arrive in 2024 and a new report suggests that there could be some big upgrades in store.

While Apple is obviously keeping quiet about its plans, a new report by MacRumors suggests that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will have upgraded Wi-Fi and ultrawide cameras.

This comes based on a new research note by Jeff Pu, a tech analyst at Hong Kong investment firm Haitong International Securities.

According to Pu, Apple will upgrade the 2024 Pro iPhones to a new Wi-Fi 7 system that will offer improved transfer speeds and reduced latency. That will be an upgrade over the Wi-Fi 6E that will debut with the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, and that is an upgrade on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max’s Wi-Fi 6.

As for the camera, it’s now thought that the ultrawide sensor will be upgraded from 12 megapixels to 48 megapixels.

An upgrade to a 48-megapixel Ultra Wide lens on the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max should allow the lens to capture more light, resulting in improved photos when shooting in 0.5× mode, especially in low-light environments.

This is all still a long way away of course, and the iPhone 16 Pro models aren’t likely to debut until September 2024. Long before then we have the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models that will debut as soon as next month.
