iPhone 15 Pro Max Predicted To Command A Higher Price Tag Than 14 Pro Max

In a recent forecast, tech analyst Jeff Pu from the Hong Kong-based investment firm Haitong International Securities predicts the forthcoming Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max to carry a higher price tag than its predecessor, the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

This announcement via MacRumors amplifies Pu’s previous speculations of a price surge for the iPhone 15 Pro models, but this marks the first time a specific projection for the Pro Max version has been made public.

The exact reasons behind this anticipated price rise remain anyone’s guess. Nevertheless, a larger battery, an enhanced display, and a distinctive feature – a speculated periscope lens – could account for the predicted cost increase.

Expectedly, both iPhone 15 Pro models will continue to incorporate the telephoto lens technology within their triple-camera assembly. However, the iPhone 15 Pro Max may exclusively host the periscope lens, promising a leap in optical zoom capabilities from 3x to a potential 5x or 6x. Once again, if accurate, this hardware bump would see Apple focusing on the camera capabilities of its flagship device.

Unlike a traditional camera setup, the periscope lens system employs a two-step mechanism. A primary lens captures the image, while an angled prism redirects light toward a secondary lens. This second lens then relays the image to the sensor. Housed sideways within the smartphone, this mechanism extends the focal length and demands valuable surface area, possibly contributing to the predicted price increase. Could we also see an increased bump on the rear of the device?

According to Pu’s note, mass production for the iPhone 15 series could commence as early as August, aligning with Apple’s past practices of September announcements.

Rumor has it that all iPhone 15 models will feature a USB-C port, a Dynamic Island at the top of the device, and a marginally different frame to previous models. If these rumors hold true, the iPhone 15 Pro Max could be a breakthrough in smartphone technology – a breakthrough that may indeed command a higher price. But will punters be happy to pay even more when we are in the middle of a cost of living crisis? Only time will tell.

As we inch closer to the potential launch date, it’s worth keeping an eye on this space for more concrete details about Apple’s next big offering.
