iOS / iPadOS 14 Photos App Lets You Zoom Into Images More Than Ever

Apple’s Photos app has long been the best way to enjoy your photos whether that’s on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac. But now the iOS 14 version is taking things a step further by making it possible to zoom in further than ever before.

We’ve always been able to zoom into our images using the infamous pinch gesture, but the iPhone app hasn’t let us go anywhere near as far as we’d have liked.

With iOS 14, that’s all going to change and the improvement is pretty dramatic.

There’s no magic going on here, however. You’re still zooming into the same image so don’t expect any sci-fi-like “ENHANCE!” stuff here. But while the quality does inevitably degrade it’s now nice to be able to see things a little more closely than we’ve been able to before.

It isn’t clear exactly why Apple made this change in iOS 14 or, even better, why it hasn’t always been this way through iOS 13. But we’re just happy it’s here!

This new feature, and many more, was spotted by people who currently have the iOS 14 developer beta installed on their devices. Apple is set to release a public beta next month, with the rest of the world getting their hands on it in or around September of this year. The same goes for iPadOS 14, watchOS 7, and macOS 11 Big Sur, too.
