Apple released iOS 18.2.1 on December 11, 2024, and as expected, the latest firmware has undergone a thorough battery life performance testing.
iAppleBytes conducted detailed tests on the iPhone 15, 13, 12, 11, iPhone XR, and iPhone SE.
Each device was set up with a fresh install of iOS 18.2.1 and allowed a 24-hour stabilization period. Tests were carried out under controlled conditions: screen brightness was fixed at 25%, and all devices were connected to the same network.
The Geekbench Battery Test was used to analyze battery life in two modes:
- Full Discharge Mode: Measures battery performance from 100% to 0%, providing the most reliable results.
- Partial Discharge Mode: Evaluates battery efficiency over a shorter time frame, offering medium confidence results.
Scores from these tests reflect both performance and battery optimization, with higher scores indicating better efficiency.
This analysis sheds light on how iOS 18.2.1 manages battery life and performance during intensive usage, offering users valuable guidance on whether to upgrade.
