Google Announces ChatGPT Rival ‘Bard’

Google today has announced its own version of ChatGPT called Bard which will be powered by LaMDA.

Bard is launching to select testers today with more broader availability coming in the next few weeks, confirms the company.

Google explains Bard as follows in a blog post shared by the company’s CEO Sundar Pichai:

Bard seeks to combine the breadth of the world’s knowledge with the power, intelligence and creativity of our large language models. It draws on information from the web to provide fresh, high-quality responses. Bard can be an outlet for creativity, and a launchpad for curiosity, helping you to explain new discoveries from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope to a 9-year-old, or learn more about the best strikers in football right now, and then get drills to build your skills.

Google CEO emphasized on how Bard “draws on information from the web to provide fresh, high-quality responses,” which sometimes its biggest rival ChatGPT struggles with.

We will of course keep you updated as and when Bard makes its way to broader availability, and eventually to public in coming weeks and months. Stay tuned for more on this space as AI war heats up between ChatGPT, Microsoft and Google’s Bard.
