You really have to commend the hard work and dedication that is consistently shown by development teams involved in the production of jailbreaks. After blind-siding the whole community with the release of a jailbreak solution in Chinese for 64-bit Apple devices running iOS 9.3.3, Pangu Team has now updated their jailbreak with support for the English language.
This, understandably makes it a lot easier to use and navigate through, and a whole lot more user-friendly for the presumably millions of English speakers around the world interesting in liberating their compatible iPhone, iPad or iPod touch from Apple’s walled garden.
Not only that, unlike the Chinese version, this one works with Windows, Mac and Linux as well. Yes it’s still semi-untethered, which means you will have to re-jailbreak with Pangu app on the device after every reboot.
As for device compatibility, all of Apple’s 64-bit mobile devices, such as the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6s/6s Plus, iPhone 6/6 Plus, iPhone SE, iPad Air 2, 12.9-inch and 9.7-inch iPad Pro, iPad Air 1, iPad mini 4, 3, 2 and the 6th-generation iPod touch model, are supported. As for supported firmware versions, all firmware version from iOS 9.2 to iOS 9.3.3 can be jailbroken using this jailbreak.
It is worth noting that the English language version of jailbreak works slightly different to the Chinese version. It basically uses Saurik’s “Cydia Impactor” tool and an .IPA file to jailbreak. Another difference is that if you are using free Apple ID to jailbreak, it will only last for 7 days after which you will have to re-jailbreak using Cydia Impactor on your computer with resigned Pangu IPA file. Those using Apple Developer account IDs will have their jailbreak last till 1 year after which they will have to redo the process.
Compared to this, if you used Chinese version of the jailbreak when it came out, it will last 1 year even if used with free Apple ID as it replaced them with its own enterprise certificate. However if you are going to jailbreak now using Chinese 1.1 version of the tool, it will also now last 7 days just like the English version if done using free Apple ID as Apple has revoked PP/Pangu’s previous enterprise certificate. The latest Chinese 1.2 version of the tool though uses a new enterprise certificate, if you use that to jailbreak, it will still last you for 1 year.
You can download Cydia Impactor for Windows & Mac, as well as the Pangu jailbreak app IPA file from here.
We’ll of course be back with a tutorial on the English version of the jailbreak soon. Stay tuned.
