Another year, another new iPhone arrives from Apple, and even though we should be used to it by now, the amount of hype, rumor and speculation always seems to increase with every new release. With only five days to go until the event at the Yerba Buena Center, we have a relatively good idea of what to expect, although quite a few features still remain up in the air.
Apple showcased many new and intriguing features with the grand unveiling of iOS 6, the sixth edition of the company's famed mobile operating system, and one of the ones we're looking forward to the most is the Passbook feature. Apple et al have done a stellar job in reducing general pocket fodder over the years, and Passbook will only aid the progression further by allowing vouchers, boarding passes, loyalty cards, coupons and the like to be stored away digitally, and utilized with minimal fuss.
With the well documented patent infringement court case between two mobile industry titans - Apple and Samsung - it's easy to forget amongst the bickering and finger-pointing, that the two companies share a pretty rich business relationship.
If we told you that Apple was planning on launching a service that allows users to search for, select and then stream music across multiple iOS and OS X devices, then it probably shouldn’t come as a great surprise. After all, Apple pretty much pioneered the shift in music and paved the way for digital downloads and the like, so the surprise would be that it has taken them this long to adopt the strategy and actually come up with a service similar to that offered by the likes of Pandora and Spotify.
The iOS App Store is bursting at the moment with photography and social networking apps. The world is currently stuck in a social boom, with every developer wanting to utilize on the current popular trends in order to hit a commercial success with their apps. I personally love a good photography app and regularly use different types of them, but the Quicam app that has been on the App Store for just a few days has to be one of the most potentially dangerous apps I have seen in a while.
It seems like only yesterday when the original iPhone was announced to the world by the late Steve Jobs, a revolutionary device that was going to turn the industry on its head and be the new benchmark for what manufacturers would need to live up to. Although it seems that Samsung took the challenge a lot more literally than others, the race for the top of the smartphone charts is still going strong, and it's only a matter of days until Apple introduces the world to their sixth-generation iPhone. We can't wait.
In the past couple of weeks, we've been met with an almost non-stop barrage of iPhone 5 part leaks. The mobile device repairs companies have been receiving the innards of the upcoming device sporadically, and now, we can take a close look at the earpiece speaker of the iPhone 5.
Despite having not released any new material for quite a while now, the wacky pop star Lady Gaga remains a press reporter's dream. Famed for her unusual outfits and antics as well as her chart-smashing success, she has a legion of fans she affectionately refers to as "little monsters," and on a social network created especially for her superfans, Gaga has announced her next album will be released as an app for Apple's iPhone and iPad.
The iPhone 5's announcement is almost upon us, and although we've seen prototypes of the upcoming smartphone measured up against the current iPhone 4S on numerous occasions, many of the images and videos released hitherto have been far from clear. Now, though, parts and repairs company iResQ has fully assembled an iPhone 5 using various bits and pieces it has received, and offered the anxious tech world a very up-close and personal look at the next-gen Apple smartphone compared with its predecessor.
Although the official unveiling of the iPhone 5 remains a week away, we already have a pretty solid idea of what'll be in store in terms of aesthetics and vital hardware specification. Yerba Buena in San Francisco, California will place Tim Cook and Co. in familiar surroundings come September 12th, and even though we've been treated to a glut of images and videos of the next-generation Apple smartphone, it now appears as though we've gotten our first look at the device in action. Well, sort of.
